Basically sound like you averaged 65mph, added 200hp, gained 11mph, with no prop tuning. Not bad IMO......
Can't hardly wait 'till I add the OTHER 400 hp...

So, now I'm back with the 496 mag ho..
Added the Whipple stage 2 tune to the ECM.
Running a Cutting Edge labbed 4 blade 28 pitch prop.

Full fuel tank, a passenger, and 2 coolers. 100° air temp
Boat struggled a bit more coming on plane with the 28 than the 25 Hydromotive P5X the boat came with, but not all too bad..

Loaded, In the heat of the day with the 25 P5X, boat would usually only run 60 - 62 MPH and I saw a best of 66 mph

Mid range cruise was maybe a tick faster with the 4 blade.

Top RPM looked to be 4700 -4800 range and the boat now ran 65 - 67 at WOT all day.. (Ran about 80 miles at WOT )

GPS recorded a top speed of 69.4 mph but I didn't see when it happened to get the RPM.....

SO, should I have the prop tweaked just a bit or leave it be ?

What are your impressions of the Whipple tune? Are you seeing transom soot? Seems like u received a nice gain with the new setup. WOT rpm is a tad low. You want to be at 5000-5100. Tweaking for more rpm might get you a mph up.top. "IF" you can get slip to stay the same or decrease.

Gotta love a stock 496HO! You can run the pi** out of them all day long.

See my post below of comparisons of 89 vs 93 octane with the tune.

Soot seemed a little less. Hard to tell about the tune as I changed props at the same time.. I'll have to find time to try the 5 blade again and see what just the tune got me..

Happy I WAS running 5-7 MPH faster than the last run

Have to get out and get accurate RPM on my new 4 blade as well so I can send it back to get tuned up.. Not bad for an out of the box $500 "labbed" prop tho' Cutting Edge rocks !

So, I FINALLY got a chance to run my 25 pitch P5x again
It jumps out of the hole and accelerates HARD with the Whipple tune.
Before the Whipple tune, this prop ran low to mid 60's.. today I hit 70 @5000 RPM.consistently. . Gps recorded a max of 71.1 (must've been going down hill)

I had sent my cutting edge 4 blade 28 back to be tweaked a bit to pull some more RPM hoping to break 70.
It didn't exactly go as planned. It would only do 67 mph @ 4700 and accelerated slow.
This was with less fuel and passengers than last rime I ran it, so I'm sending it back again..
I would think a 4 blade should be faster than the 5 blade on top end if it's dialed in properly..

Those numbers with the 5 blade look great! Might want to have it labbed vs the CE 4blade. I do agree that a dialed in 4 blade "should" be faster up top vs a 5 blade at our power levels.
