1987 320?
Could anyone give me some insite about a 1987 320 outboard. I have tried to look online but have found very little info. I know I have read and heard people say the older 30 was one of the best performing hulls that Velocity had produced. Is this true about the 320 outboard version as well? Do they have any glaring problems? Have the chance to get it pretty cheap and thought it might be a cool project. Thank you for any information.

If it's a 1987 model(?) it's the original 30' hull built by Regal - not the 320 hull (has an integrated swim platform) which was produced by Velocity starting in 1996 as I recall. The outboard powered 30's were highly regarded and indeed I saw one race pretty darn competively at the OPA worlds just last November. I think it would be good project especially in view of the high popularity of outboards these days.

I'd be curious to know if it was a I/O conversion as I don't think Regal built many (if any) true outboard 30's. The OB version had a motor well.
Nick's 30 that he raced this year was an old original Velocity raceboat that he converted over to outboards. With triple 300's, his runs well into the 90's.

The 320 has a different pad/bottom than the original 30'. Believe the 320's up until around 2010 were built in a plugged 410 mold. Pad is a little narrower and boat is more sensitive to trim and driver input, great hull but you drive it not ride it.... Mine is I/O boat and well balanced but I have no experience with outboard versions.
What's a great deal?
