Thanks. Looking for something a bit less expensive from a motivated private seller or a 525 powered one for that $60,000 price range.

Finding a 27zr with a 525 won't be easy to do, I was in the market for nearly a year and saw only one. They had it listed in South Florida, was a yacht's dingy, never answered my calls...not entirely sure it was a legit listing. 28zx is are great alternative, bigger boat...with scorpion motors, faster than the 27zr with a 525. Best of luck in your search.

I'm seeing people get unbelievable deals on used boats lately. I'd like to find one of those deals. Power doesn't matter. If a 496 boat were priced right I could swap engines with my 22 Classic. $60,000 is a broker's price. I'm seeing people get much more boat for less. A friend just picked up a sweet 28 Powerquest with 502 and single step hull for $21,000.

$60k is high for a 27' boat, but ZR's never are cheap. A 28zx (more boat), will go for $30-50k depending on the setup. If you're sold on a 27zr, I'd find one with a 496 and do the motor swap, I think the 525's are already over priced because of the rarity. And you know what you're getting with your 525, which you wouldn't if it came in the new boat. I hope you find one, they're beautiful boats...especially with a 525, post some pics if you do end up with one. I'll keep an eye out for you down here in FL. Care if it's been in salt?

Salt would be ok. I would have it surveyed. Not crazy about a ZX but they are nice and there was a 25' non-step pad bottom that ran over 100 mph. I would consider a smaller ZX. I think they came in 25, 26 and 27 feet? I'm only going to do this if I can find a killer deal. I'd like something a little more practical for the great lakes and with a small cabin. Want to stick with a smaller single.

Understandable, a lot cheaper and easier to work on 1 engine and drive than 2. I'll keep an eye out for those 27 zr's.

I know you're looking to stay under $60k, but I just saw a 27zr with a 525, Whippled, for sale in AZ with super low hours. Runs 91 gps. Asking $84k. Clean boat, fast, low hours...probably can't talk him down to $60k but maybe closer to $70-75k.
