I thought that boat's horsepower is undetermined. I remember dave telling me around 700? I could be be wrong.

With the current engine that was in it. He has the new engine being built. That engine will be undetermined until dynoed.

FACT: The best 27 ever built to race was my old F-1 2001 Activator and It did a little over 80. Mind you that out of the box before we had to add 500lbs to make our weight of 4600 we were doing over 85. The over 90 with a 525 is very optimistic but the 1 yellow 27 boat that was built was a 90mph boat on a very good day. These are facts from the owner of 3 Activators that did these speeds. No guessing with these numbers.

Thanks BJ. I pulled out the good old VHS tapes this week and watched the 2002 season, man there was some good racing that year!

So, if the pleasure version weighs around 4600 lbs is it safe to say that it would run around the 80mph mark? Or were there other changes to the F1 boat that made it a little faster?

The boat weighs 4750 dry. If any of you key board racers would like to see her run in the low 90's come to Key West.

We made no other changes to the boat cause you could'nt. You were'nt allowed and we could not build a lighter boat cause we had to weigh 4600 after the race. On our initial run out of the box we weighed about 4250 with maybe 25 gallons of fuel and ran over 85 pretty easy.
A 27 full pleasure with a 500 will do 80 plus all day. You could have made a pleasure version of a 27 that would have been faster than the race version if you had wanted.

Any other "key board racer" info I can help you with just ask.:drink:

Good info! I know you guys were limited on the X dimension but I wasn't sure if the F1 boats had a higher X dimension than the pleasure versions, or if you guys could blueprint the bottoms.

Thanks again! Are you still running a Activator 30?

BJM 10-28-2011 07:59 PM

You could make the bottom as straight as you wanted as long as you did'nt change the design. There is actually no room to raise the x as the back of the boat is very small, but you can run a 2" shorty. I do still have my orange 30 with the 632 single carb in it. I actually have it up for sale as I think I'm starting to grow up or something.:drink: Any othe rquestions n I'd be glad to help if I can. My cell is 610 717 2768, feel free to call if you have alot to ask and don't feel like hitting letters.
