Looking for some advice from the OSO community on setting a reasonable price on my 89 Activator outboard. Expect to not recover my investment, but curious to what the thoughts are from the experts to get the most value. Seems the brand new Merc 400R, with less than 20 hours and with warranty in effect should be good for 24K/25K maybe and sell faster than the boat itself?? If I leave the boat ready for new power would be worth what?? That would leave the boat with electronics vessel view, new mercury tabs, and all new wiring, new stainless marine bracket etc...what do the experts think?

Default Not an expert

Here are thoughts on sale of your boat.
You need to advertise on more forums OSO,scream and fly, riverdave. I only see it on eBay.
Your asking prce is ok for someone who loves activator boats but for average buyer its a over priced 89 boat without trailer they have to buy. The average buyer will compare your asking price to other boat and think will i can get more boat for my money buy a 30ft-34ft boat. This sale of a rare boat is not goin be a quick sale unless priced to sell quick. I would try sell as turn key package with best selling point new motor

I agree with statements above
u have a very nice activator
but as stated its the 89 model straight bottom then a single even though its new 400 then no trailer
I have a 85 model 27 Excalibur,,,the same hull activator popped an exact copy of my bottom
with just minor changes on top deck and built lighter
lighter is not always better in offshore rough waters on a small hull
mine is fully restored 2012-2014 with everything new and updated with only thing original is the fiberglass hull with a trailer
I listed it last yr for 10k with only motors unbolted off full rigged with steering,10 speaker jl amped stereo, garmin gps,agm batteries, ect and all,,,just minus power
dropped to 8 and finally kept it as didn't want to take less
good luck with the sale,,,but there is a whole lotta boats out there from 27-38' for the same price and less for sale
