Re: New 29 Activator
Tim,
Interesting indeed! The most notable feature that shares similarities between the two crafts is the top of the fairing. The small raised section that runs the perimeter of the fairing. It should be effective in diverting the air, up over the occupants. I have been thinking of this for my own Activator. I am not one to start drilling holes without making sure the deflector will work. I have made up aluminum prototypes. Not happy with the outcome as of yet. Mark and company must be planning a spectacular debut as there has not been much in the line of press or pics for the 29. Russ |

Looking forward to it JC! :drink:
Russ, It is amazing what an inch or two will to do to change the air flow and water for that matter if you take one over the bow. On one of my 13 footers I had a fiberglass windscreen I made up. It was great when it came time to stuff. The water would simply shoot up over the cockpit and engine. I would just duck out of the way..... :D :D :D |
Re: New 29 Activator
Sooooo . . . . how's this 29'er related to the 32'er ? ? ?
Is the 32 a Stretched 29'er ? - is the 29 a dammed 32'er ? .. . Totally different and separate hulls ? On a big day - which would you rather run ? I have this 'thing' for Activators right about now. Specially the bigger ones. They look like a pretty nice solution to 'gas price vs performance' in the 30 to 35 range - single vs twins. . . . or am I way wrong ? |

Re: New 29 Activator
Is the lime green Dimarco boat the new 29?
|
Re: New 29 Activator
The lime green Dimarco Activator I think was actually BJ's boat. Not sure if it still his or not but that is a 27 similar to the one he raced years back with Mark S. from Activator.
Looking forward to seeing the new 29' and seeing how it runs. I am sure it will be fast like the 27'. |
Re: New 29 Activator
I wonder why there aren't pictures. I would think they would want as many pictures out as possible.

Re: New 29 Activator
JCPERF,
Do you know if any have been done with a Merc 525 or a Merc 496 as of yet???? Curious to see the kind of performance it gets with Factory power-plants in it. Any idea on how the customer said it handle??? Going fast in a straight line is one thing but being able to turn it is another as I am sure you know. Thanks, DPT :drink: :drink: :drink: |
Re: New 29 Activator
Boat really doesn't exist therefore no pictures. The only pics that were actually posted were of an Outerlimits.

Re: New 29 Activator
Understood.
It's my thread so I felt like I could post whatever I wanted to. Knowing that the 27 was (and still is) a dominant force in the offshore ranks, the 299 could only be that much better. I think a showdown between the new Extreme and the 299 is in order. That is of course, after we see the pics of the new 299 Activator. I have to admit it has been a total "skunkworks project" without much publicity. |
Re: New 29 Activator
Russ
I have seen the boat and it does exist :D I've seen it up close and I would still like to see some pictures posted. It looks like a 27 on steroids. The boat is way different than the 27, much bigger with big steps. The running surface is pretty much the same as a 27, so it handles very well. |
Re: New 29 Activator
Be nice to see a performance comparison between the 27 and the 29. Would wonder which would be better for SVL competition as well?? The 27 has shown it can be a runner in SVL but could the 29 in canopy form beat a 29 canopied Extreme??? I would really like to hear a test from someone who has really run a 27' and a 29' and get each of there opinions as well.

Re: New 29 Activator
Yes, that would be lovely.
|
Re: New 29 Activator
If We Ever Get To See This Boat Any Idea Of Cost Of One Rigged With Stock Power. Thanks
|
Re: New 29 Activator
I'd like to know that as well. Also what speeds it might see with a 496HO.
|
Re: New 29 Activator
sorry ,it just seems like the boat pictures are top secret, but i think it is worth the wait they make a great boat

Re: New 29 Activator
After seeing an Activator 27 in action last year out on the Sound, I am really impressed by these boats. It was a really choppy day with lots of cruiser wakes and it seemed like he never had to back off. The boat just flew. If this 29 runs better, that's got to be one hell of a ride!

Re: New 29 Activator
Finally, confirmation that the new 29 does exist. Sounds like it performs well with big power.
At 140 large for a new 29, it should only help maintain the value of the 27's. Thanks for the pics. |
