Does this 32 belong to anyone here?

Noticed this in the classifieds last night.

Price is a little high. Boat should move pretty good with that power.

I have seen this boat. This is a very nice boat. I will disagree with your statement regarding price. I think the boat is competitively priced and will sell fast at $85K.

I know of 1998 and newer 32 Thunders with blue motors that have sold for 20k less in the last year. I have spotted a handful of 96 model 32' Thunders and all of them have been priced WELL below this one.

Keep in mind that it is a starting price and the ad does read bring offers.

Two questions....

1) I'm assuming it's for sale again?
2) I'm assuming that there was problems with the motors after all? This was the reason for the rebuilds?

Re: Does this 32 belong to anyone here?

Jason,

I know the boat well. I spoke to the guy you purchased the boat from several times about it. I still have a file of pictures he sent me prior to selling it to you.

I knew the boat somewhat well prior to you purchasing it. That's why I have asked you so many inquisitive questions about the boat. There were a couple of things that spooked me about it when I was looking at it. I think you have taken care of those issues from the sounds of your recent repair bills. ;)

I noticed some of the extras you put in the boat since you've owned it. Feel free to post some more pics of it. Ya never know.

buck183,
If you are in the market for a 32 Thunder; and if you could have bought a 1999 or newer 32 Thunder with 500HP's for $65K... Why didn't you???

IMHO. I think when buying a boat people need to go look at the particular boat they are looking then do the following:
1. Walk around it
2. Sit in it
3. Ride in it
5. Rub all over it
After doing all of the above, then a person can determine what a boat is worth and make an offer. The Internet in many ways is helpful, but has allowed too many people to price shop for fun.

Chris,

I appreciate your advice Chris. Your assessment of my financial situation at a given time when other boats have sold almost seems like you know me to the T. I guess I don't know what I was thinking. I should have contacted you prior to doing any of my research at all over the past year.

Keep up the good work.

Re: Does this 32 belong to anyone here?

I can tell you that I personally know of a 32' that sold this year for 75K. '99 w/ very recently done 500 hp's. A '96 will NOT get 85k...the market is just not there. This is only my opinion. I hope everyone selling a boat has good luck.

Re: Does this 32 belong to anyone here?

Buck,
My apologies, I did not mean to offend you.
What I am trying to say is the determined value of a boat should not be made by photos on the Internet; and just because a similar boat sells for less does not mean that this boat will sell for $20k less than his asking price. The value of any boat should only be made once the "buyer" has seen the boat in person. Nothing torques me more when an offer is made on any product (boat or otherwise) without seeing it live and in person. What is worth $8.00 to you could be worth $10.00 to me and visa versa.

Re: Does this 32 belong to anyone here?

Chris, you have very valid points. I agree 100% with what you are saying about ones perceived value of something. I appreciate the kind words.

I was hoping Todd would chime in. His boat is one that come to mind when I was trying to put a value on the one in the ad we speak of. Thanks for chiming in Todd.

Chris, you make a good point. When I purchased my AT I new it needed some work, I just took it way overboard and I know I will never recoupe the money that I totally put into it. I look at it this way the boat gives me relaxation, motivation,a chance to meet new people, and family time and for those things I don't care what it cost because that's what we all love doing. I can't imagine not have a boat!!!

I agree as I have personally owned 2 of these hulls and absolutely loved the boat! It definitely is one of the best handling rough water 32'S on the market.
