cosmic,

I live in newburgh about 3.5 hours away. However, I have a friend coming up that way to look at a boat and I will be joining him, maybe we could hook up that weekend. It would be great to check it out. I have been talking with Pat for 2 years about getting into a 28. Hopefully next year.

Pat, I see no ITS on this one, what results have you seen on the 37 with ITS transom?

Good question. Never have done one. We used a Stelling box with a 12" setback on one but no real noticeable increase in speed. I wasn't thrilled with the handling either. I should add, however, that the step was at a 5" height. Through testing we have it down at 4" for all of the current models so it may be a different animal.

Pat,

What is the best number to reach you on. I want to discuss a boat. I left a message on the number on the website twice. Please advise.

How much higher are you putting the X dimension with the ITS above normal height? Are you thinking 90 MPH could be a reality with the 525's on ITS??

Mercruiser Hi-perf tech says an inch. That's what we did on the 28. Any thoughts? I'm sure they are conservative, of course.

I'd ask for another Fitty cent, but I didn't take any pics that aren't already posted.

Looks like I'll have to come back down in a couple of weeks. :D

Ooops, you just drug yourself into this testing!

Ok, Gordo, here's the data. Boat for boat. One with an ITS and one with standard Bravo. Both stock out-of-the-box, 26 4-bladded bravos.

non-ITS: 74/5 at 5400 with 18" X no-notched transom
ITS: 72 at 5000 with 19" X no notched transom

Going to send a Labbed 26 for the extra RPMs which brings the speed back. Diameter change?

I figured a 2-3 mph increase with the box.

Only other unmentioned change: Corsa Full-time mufflers. They claim no HP loss.

Maybe at 2900 RPM. But I can't believe they don't restrict at WFO.
As for the issue at hand, I still say you needed to go up another 1" to 1.5"
How did it plane off with and without the ITS?

It was already too high based on the numbers and the way it came on plane. That was why the 1".

You KNOW I'm not conservative with the X. :D

It would be interesting to slap on some 4" tubes and see the difference, wouldn't it?

So far. But a new configuration with the drive and also the first one we've ever built with full time mufflers.

I never knew that NY had a crazy law that makes switchable illegal.

Pat, NH has the same law. It's probably more wide spread than you think.

So we need the trick switch installed. Forgot all about that.

AAAAAhhhh, the 'trick' switch. Good tip.

We have the same law here in Indiana but you don't see me running around with mufflers. I have the Teague 450 tips and I just try not to switch them off with my tail end facing the water patrol.
One last thing, I would have to agree with Pat when he said he's not real conservative with the X. :evilb: :D

I looked into last year. Statefarm full coverage $850 with the 525. Boating on Hudson River including New York Harbor, Outside of Harbor(Ocean) $1500.

That sounds about right. You would think outside of traffic areas and obstacles would actually be less.

Of course this is applied logic probably not statistical.
