You also want to check your prop slip. Ideally you would like be between 8-12% for a step bottom boat, 12 to 16 for a v bottom. I know Brian will argue that is a way to break drives and I would say yes if you are not easy on the sticks at high speeds and big water. Slip has two variables, one drive height, and two props. I believe that red/ silver 700SCI Cig Top Gun out of the box did 98mph with bravo 4 blades. Once once they figured the slip was too high, they played with drive height and went to herring 5 blades and got 7-10 mph out of the boat. I went from 14% to 8% slip on my CC and gained 6-7mph top end by choosing the right prop...I am going to start playing with props on my AT when I get back down to FL this month.
