22' Active Thunder Banshee

Pat,

How many of these did you produce?
I'd love to have one with an outboard as a second boat.

I knew they were produced, but I was never interested in such, so I never paid attention. I've got some old brochures with a picture, but I don't know much about them personally. They had the DDC/AVH hull, and were available with OB or IO power.

I created the thread to start an online repository for future use if needed by anyone.

I'd love to have one with an outboard for quick trips out to the local river that I'll be moving closer to. MS and I have lots of friends with ski/wakeboard boats. They either have lifts or can launch at the shady ramp not far from the house. The river is only a couple hundred feet wide in some spots, but I have taken Monsoon out there a couple times. I have to drive 30 miles down river to find a barely suitable ramp, and cruise 30 miles up the "road course" back to friends' houses. Its a fun trip though. People hear us coming for miles and just shake their heads when we rip by.

Brian,

I remember seeing the Banshee hull being laid up. I'd have to guess and say there was only one or two produced.

I saw the OB one at the factory when I was there. IIRC Pat said he built it to take the kids skiing, etc. I think they were making a an IO one at that time for a friend of his.

The boat ran like a raped ape!!! There were a few built. I think Big Al got one. Single Step hull just like the 37. I believe the molds went back to Harry Schull and then were licenced out to a bass boat company. Pat could chime in and tell more. The original Top deck had a forward "rumble seat" configuration....

When I picked up my boat at the factory in 2003 there was one there with am Pulse drive on it and was just being built. Pat said the thing would really run with that drive.
Other than that one have not seen one.

Pulse drive? cool, what was the power? I have heard rumors that Pat had used them( pulse drives) did he ever use it on the bigger boats?

Brian you must be talking about the Mattaponi. Back in the late 80s i had a friend who kept his camper at rainbow acres and we used to go skiing on his Mastercraft. Ive been as far up as the walkerton bridge. I bet Monsoon does turn some heads winding thru there.

Exactly. I have put in down at West Point, and run all the way north of the Walkerton Bridge. We have friends that live on the water in Walkerton. The river is so narrow that I have had to come off plane to turn around. Its more like a creek!

Last time out; 30 miles up the river... saw one PWC that day. Guess what:

He cut me off!! GO figure.

cosmic12 02-12-2007 01:24 PM

So where are they? Brian while you are down there see what you can dig up:cool:

cosmic12 02-13-2007 03:24 PM

cosmic12 02-13-2007 04:43 PM

Seems strange to click "Quick Reply" on a post that is 16 years old. I wish I would have seen this thread 10 years ago. I have an AT 22 ft Banshee sitting in my driveway in rural Indiana.. It was a fast, fun boat with a great hull. It is one of 2 (I believe) that was converted to a Pulse Drive surface drive which of course is no longer serviceable. It was powered by a Merc 350 MPI. A comment above regarding its speed used the term "raped ape" this was true. Another comment regarding the Pulse Drive stated "don't ask ." This is an appropriate comment also. It is currently in need of a total rehab including a Power/Drive solution. It would be a good project Boat.
