Windshield fairing for a 32

I've been looking at pics of other AT's, I see some with a fairing & some without. The 96 32 that I'm working a deal on, does not have one. I noticed, during my ride on "Thunderstruck", that Tom has a fairing & it definetly works. My question is, where can I get a fairing for a 96, or will it have to be custom made?
Just something I was wondering about....

You can have it made at a local plastics shop. I'd go for 3/8" thick lexan.

Quick details:
Make a pattern out of cardboard, and then have it made locally. You remove the pad that goes across the front of the top of the dash/very edge of the deck. Screw the lexan in here, and then put the pad back over it.

Do you think 3" is tall enuff?
How is the pad attached?
Thanks

There should be 3 or 4 straps (seperate) around the pad, look behind them there should be screws.

Griff 12-04-2007 02:23 PM

Mine is 3" tall and works pretty well.

Mine is 3" tall that is sticking above the pad you will need it appx 6" or so to put down behind pad and screw it fast , as cosmic said the screws are behind the slip over pads.

Thanks,
I really love that paint job on your boat. I do wish it was within my price range, that's a great looking boat.

I find mine to be a pain..

Makes it harder to get on the bow of the boat, it looks good but they can make it in more than one piece to have easier bow access. No I am not an old man, but the cockpit is deep so not so easy to go drop an anchor. I have a 28 there is no stair, does the 32 have built in stairs? Vic

We don't go over the front to get to the bow. We go over the side and use the nonskid walk around.

Yep, that's the best way. Walk up the back seat, then armrest, and walk the non-skid up to the bow.

If in a hurry, I will step on the bolster, then the grab rail on the dash, and then over the windscreen, but its not easy.

rssteiny 12-05-2007 02:42 PM

Another thing i love about the A/T is the side walk rail , dont know what your missing till you have it.

rangerrick63 12-05-2007 07:42 PM

I suppose the trick to the side walk around, is DON'T WAX IT!!....
I waxed the swim platform on my Donzi, it did look alot better, but when it was wet.....:eek::eek:...Well, I'm sure you can figure what part of the anotomy was "Busted"...lol....

Griff 12-05-2007 08:37 PM

The non skid walk around is not like textured like normal swim platform non skid. It is very deeply molded into the deck, not just sprayed on.

I wax mine every time I do the rest of the boat. The wife is the one that goes up there and she gets pizzed because I do.
If its painted i figure it needs waxing.

Jus add a lil water, & ya got "ICE"....:D

spilman 12-05-2007 11:39 PM

The previous owner of New Moon took a different approach;...can't say which way is better, but I guess not having the single piece of Lexan is the "greener on the other side" scenario. Mine do work well though...

On my old 25 thunder i had the wind away flaps, they flip up and down and worked so so.

Thunderstruck 12-06-2007 07:12 AM

Rick I need to replace my windshield this year and I was thinking of going 1/2-1" taller. On my center enter cabin the bolts on the pad are not easy to get to but not impossible.

Remember you will probly have to redo the cockpit cover also

Tom, Let me know when ya get it done, I'd like to see pics. Are you going to do the bends yourself, or do you have someone local to do it for you?

That is a good point, i got lucky and my cover with the sheild fits perfect, i dont need any props , it stays nice and tight and it also trailers with no problems.
