What does the Savage run with a 525? I think I recall Cosmic's running 70-72 thats not bad for a single. Now i do agree with you on the big HP engines but not the 525. This engine has proven itself over and over agian, they take one hell of a beating on the race course.I'm not sure what the exact cost of a 496 is but i think its a bit more than 10K new(maybe 16K)
If i was in a better position I would look at this one but would rather one with the new 530HP 6.2L:cool-smiley-027: Boat looks awsome in th water Now get her to the gulf so she can eat:D |
AT28 w/525 75mph
AT28 w/496 64mph AT28 w/t350's 72mph;less fuel consumption |
Mine was just under 75 depending on load. But you also have to remember that I had mufflers and the ITS drive that may have made it slower. I didn't really have it long enough to do much testing or changeing things. I loved the boat and maybe someday I will have another.

speeds
My 28 w/ 525 ran 73 but never really dialed it in, 496 HO was 63/64 I had no mufflers on my 525 unlike comic, BTW that Apache is really sharp

My numbers were in opt. conditions...I've been told the red 05 28ATw/525 went 77; but I doubt it ever did. |

How's it going? Haven't seen you in awhile. Have you splashed down this year? Hows the fam? p.s. Hijack in process. :evilb: Since then we went back last weekend and the lake was fun, but I got Appendicitis and had to go to Danville Reg. Hosp. 1/2 way back to Raleigh...stayed there 3 days cause the Lapro. didn't work so I got the old fashioned 5" incision and now I have to sit around for 10 EFF'ing Days!! besides that, all is well....Becky is busier than a beaver doing my job and hers...but she can handle it. Friday she took the F350 & Dump trailer and picked up 100 bundles of shingles and the all accessories for a roof job and delivered it! She did all my banking, project managing & pr biz w/ the customer.....she's a keeper! |

Whats up man,
Boat ran great on sunday, but found a little water in the oil on the port side monday morning. Hopefully not too bad, but I have not gotten the diagnosis yet. Went to Jamaica last week for the honeymoon. Awesome place. Can't wait to go back. I've got a different view on the refresh and fixing point you make. A 28 single needs a big engine to get anywhere near 70mph. With big hp engines comes big maintenance and they don't last as long as between rebuilds as say a stock 496. Take this one with the 525. Whats that roughly a $20K motor. I think the stock 496's are close to $10K. So if you blow one in the single thats a big hit. If you blow one of the two on a twin not only do you get a free ride home, but the cost to fix is relatively cheaper when compared to a big hp single. Which one do you think will be more apt to blow. The 525 you'll be running between 4-5000rpms all day on or the twin 496's you'll be running 3-4000rpms all day. Those higher RPM's and weight load the single has to bear will be more maintenance even more so on the outdrive. Granted you won't have to fix two motors/outdrives, but the extra strain on the single is very significant IMO. Just my .02 I guess the way around that is the put a 700nxt in the savage and be able to loaf around 3500rpms, cruise well, and have a stout drive......or tap the high 80's and really run. |
Rob, Where you at?
|
Does anyone know anything more about this boat now?
I never got an answer from the guy in the general discussion looking for a surveyor in the area if it was for this boat. |

Looks like the tattle tale says 75-76 on the pic of the dash. It is a bad angle though. Anybody know if this boat was saltwater only? |
Average top speed for that setup is 73-75.
If you run them Fountain Performance Report style... down wind, down current, a dixie cup of fuel, with only a horse jockey driver that both jumps up off the floor to reduce weight, and ducks at the same time to reduce wind drag... Yeah, it ought to hit 76 or so. |

does anyone know what happened with this boat? a week or so ago the website had its status as 'sale pending' but now it's available again.
|
The boat was rough. It has a weak cylinder in the engine and several other problems. Have it looked at carefully if thinking of buying it. And 69 is tooo high.
