who has the best, where are the speakers located? i am having ours tweeked i assume it is standard, looking to add another sub and two more speakers. where should the other sub go? first sub is center under the back bench.

Scott, what is your goal? Do you want to hear tunes while you are running? Or do you want the ultimate party boat?

I went for more sound projection into the cockpit from all angles. I did not go with components, rather coax MBQuart speakers which I am very happy with. I have 8 - 6.5s in the cockpit, and 2 - 10" JBL 10W3s under the back seat in a sealed enclosure.

The main thing for hearing the music when you are running is mids and tweeters up high in the cockpit. Get one/some beside the throttles and the opposite side of the boat up by the cabin entry. If you feel so inclined, some dash speakers will REALLY let you hear the music well while on plane.

My subs hit so hard the first time that I took a ride with them cranked, that I thought I broke a drive. Sometimes they still make me look at the gauges to make sure everything is intact.

There is a lot of room in our two boats in the SB side gunwale compartment, and the combing panel comes out rather simply. You might opt to put a nice big sub in there, IF you can make the enclosure fit. Free-air subs have come a long way, and sound great. But if you want a hard & tight bass hit, an engineered enclosure is the way to go. My box is made of 3/4" wood and all of the seams were fiberglassed together for strength. (My brother in law designed competition stuff.)

i'am not looking for the ultimate party boat, but yes looking to hear tunes better while we are running. looking for ideas that others have done to upgrade. want to be able to turn cabin off and run cockpit separate as well. so you mounted right next to the throttles? , i assume that doesnt get in you way.

Speaker selection is very important. My original speaker grills were not close to my Kiekauffer throttles. Now I have Livorsi throttles and billet speaker grilles. It's a little close, but not such that it gets in my way. Worst case scenario is I swap my controls to SSTT for the new owner, instead of the STTS as they are now. Since each AT is different, your combing panel may be shaped a bit differently than mine, and will allow your speaker to be moved around anywhere in perhaps a 10" diameter area. I am away from my home computer right now, but I can get pics and the full schematic at the end of the week.
