Hey Jassman, Are you thinking about coming up to the Cumberland run? That would be awesome. We are definitely in, just got to get Grandma lined up to watch the kiddos. We did it last year for the first time and it was a blast. Anyone else with an AT going to do the Cumberland Run?
|
TBIKINI, Sandy and I really want to make that one, whats the date again, we also want to go to the Destin Florida PR and maybe the Texas one. Hope to see you there, and yes, please bring the quiet one along with you, Id like to meet him as well:D

Jassman
The Lake Cumberland run is the weekend after Labor Day, September 6 and 7th this year. It is usually the same weekend every year. I guess you know you can go to www.midamericanboating.com and get info on the run along with an entry form. I think this falls 2 or 3 weekends after the Texoma run. We have some good friends who participated last year in the Texoma run. (Actually they rode in someone else's boat) I think they will be participating this year too. We would love to have other AT's at Cumberland. Last year there were tons of Fountains and Sonics it seemed. We must make our presence known! |
Tbikini,
The weekend after Labor Day we are always looking to get away, but forgive me for not knowing where Lake Cumberland is. Can you fill me in. Do you have any idea how far it is from good ole new jersey? |
Jassman, if you can make it to the Cumberland Poker Run, that would be excellent. My father is going to go with us and grandma is going to keep the kids in their motor coach, Man I can't wait to retire. The lake is about 75 miles south of Lexington Kentucky, I am not exactly sure where you are in Mississippi, but you would probably be best getting to 65 North either on I10 or I20 to Nashville. Then take I40 east. From there its back roads. Or, You could stay on 65 north out of Nashville to the Cumberland Parkway east to Summerset.
There were over 200 boats in the run last year. With those KE's you will make a statement for AT. I can send you better directions if you decside to make the run. We should try to get Thunderdan to make the trip as well. In fact we could make this a mini ThunderRun. ActivethunderTodd and Jesse James could make this run as well. What do y'all think. Tbikini and I are in for sure. |
Thunder RUN locations?
I saw a thread on the general board from Chris, a fellow AT owner making a run from Miami to Paradise Island. I was thinking thatthe could be a good starting point for planing our run and where we are running to. Here is a reply from Steve David on the run.
The 180 miles are open ocean miles. Safest bet is first to Bimini, which is about 55 miles. Clear Customs in Bimini (Big Game Resort). Then to Chub Cay which is the longest segment, about 90 miles across the Bahama banks, this section is les than 10 feet deep and usually pretty smooth. Then from Chub Cay into Nassau is another 40 miles or so, much of that in what's known as the Tongue of the Ocean. It's real deep, and can be very nasty. Plan ahead, watch the weather, morning is usually best. Good fuel availability at the refrenced stops, although cost will run from $2.95 per gallon and up. WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK? |
H2OWarrior here
I think we would rather run through the Key's. I am a little fearful of running in the open ocean with no experience. Besides Tbikini has this thing about sharks:eek:
|
The Keys sound good too me.....Better sights and good old USA.!
|
Key Largo would be a fun place to go. The Mariott is nice the Westin is great and the Tiki Bar is fun. Can take a ride to have lunch at the Fish Company.
Todd |
Hmmmmmm..Key Largo sounds real nice.have a friend/customer that has a Condo on the bayside and a 20x40 slip. Does anyone have a date set for this run?
|
Mid to late October I think. ThunderDan is the organizer.:D
|
The Keys sounds great to me. I do not mind being the organizer.:D :D Is mid to late October good for all? How many days is everyone planning on staying/running etc..
|
Mid to late sounds good preferably mid because of the KW west poker run on the end of oct or 1st of NOV.

Could go the weekend of the Fri Oct 11th to Sun Oct 13. This is also the weekend of the Columbus Day Regatta. Thats when Tracy and I went down to Key Largo with Pat and Diane. The Westin is beautiful and they have really nice docking available. The Florida Powerboat Club also has a run that weekend to Key Largo and the Columbus Day Regatta. So I'm sure there will be other OSO menbers down there that weekend also.
So what do you all think about that time?? BTW here's my logo from Steve. What do you think? Todd |
Sounds Good and Looks Good
|
I put the AT avatar on Tracy's ID.
And she agrees with the OCT dates. |
That sounds like a great time and the dates work for me.:D How far in advance do we have to make reservations at the westin at that time of year?
|
When we went last year I don't think we made our reservations more than 2 or 3 weeks prior to going. They had plenty of rooms available at that time. And the dockage is free for patrons of the hotel. Nice benifit.
|
Todd, maybe you should direct Jassman to the Columbus Day Reggatta pictures you have which happens to coincide with this weekend in October you are mentioning. I already have my beads ready. Wonder who gave them to me as a present.....?
|
The Bahamas idea is great but you can end up with a whole lot of people milling around the inlet in October looking at 10-12's. Still Hurricane season plus the season changed and the ocean can be nice or total crap. Opting for the Keys with alot of out-of-towners is a better idea this time of year. Plus we are out of season so it is cheap-cheap to stay everywhere. Early summer is better for the Bahamas.
If everyone is serious then we will set it up. AT will supply the chopper for films and stills plus host a kick-ass party. Oh, Steve....got another job for you.... |
Here's the web site Pat was talking about...
http://www.geocities.com/todd0616/cdregatta1.html Beware that there is adult content on these pages.:D :p ;) So who gave you the beads Pat???:p See ya |
Pat,
Barb and I are definite that we are in and ready to go. That sounds like a great idea, choppers, party boats, booze. Yeah, I am in. Just what Steve needs, we all know he really doesn't do much during the day anyway.:p :D Todd, Great pictures.:D :D |
ALRIGHT, now I have something to do! I have been wondering what I could do to fill my evening hours at home! Now I have a reason to stay up ALL night as well!
Actually, it will be fun setting this up and making sure that we have one hell of a kick-ass get-together. Who's bringing the latex? and can we get some purple?:D :D :D :D :D |
Who's Joining Us?
Everyone who is going to join us should send me an email letting me know how many are going to be on your boat so I know how many beers to buy!
|
My wife and I will be on my boat. But I drink enough beer for three...:D :D
|
Im back, and Im in, and I definetly will supply the purple Latex.
Count us in. |
H2o and TBIKINI, we will try to make that Cumberland Run, its about a 10 1/2 hour drive I believe from the gulf coast.:D
|
Oh yeah, and we might bring a third person.:D
|
Never mind, it will just be the two of us. See I keep changing even these little simple things...:D :D
|
Ive been gone 4 days, I read the situation on the hatch, on KE site he has some motors called the all american, I believe 700 hp check it out , naturally asperated, and will fit, just dont know how much
|
Where is it on his site?:(
|
I guess I was wrong, I read about it in Power Boat Mag then, let me find it and get back to you:D
|
I did not know that you could read:p ;) :D :D Ah, you must just look at the pictures.:D :D
|
Jassman, Sounds great on the Cumberland Poker Run. You'll find out just how boring we really are:eek: .
Thunderous Daze We need to figure out our vacation schedule and will let you know about the Thunder Run when we are down there on the 27th and 28th. Don't forget to have all that stuff ready for Tbikini on Dan and Jeff's boats:D Something about a photo shoot:D :D :D Tbikini says she is really looking forward to it:confused: |
