Hey Jassman, Are you thinking about coming up to the Cumberland run? That would be awesome. We are definitely in, just got to get Grandma lined up to watch the kiddos. We did it last year for the first time and it was a blast. Anyone else with an AT going to do the Cumberland Run?

Jassman 03-13-2002 11:10 PM

TBIKINI, Sandy and I really want to make that one, whats the date again, we also want to go to the Destin Florida PR and maybe the Texas one. Hope to see you there, and yes, please bring the quiet one along with you, Id like to meet him as well:D

The Lake Cumberland run is the weekend after Labor Day, September 6 and 7th this year. It is usually the same weekend every year. I guess you know you can go to www.midamericanboating.com and get info on the run along with an entry form. I think this falls 2 or 3 weekends after the Texoma run. We have some good friends who participated last year in the Texoma run. (Actually they rode in someone else's boat) I think they will be participating this year too. We would love to have other AT's at Cumberland. Last year there were tons of Fountains and Sonics it seemed. We must make our presence known!

Tbikini,

The weekend after Labor Day we are always looking to get away, but forgive me for not knowing where Lake Cumberland is. Can you fill me in. Do you have any idea how far it is from good ole new jersey?

Jassman, if you can make it to the Cumberland Poker Run, that would be excellent. My father is going to go with us and grandma is going to keep the kids in their motor coach, Man I can't wait to retire. The lake is about 75 miles south of Lexington Kentucky, I am not exactly sure where you are in Mississippi, but you would probably be best getting to 65 North either on I10 or I20 to Nashville. Then take I40 east. From there its back roads. Or, You could stay on 65 north out of Nashville to the Cumberland Parkway east to Summerset.

There were over 200 boats in the run last year. With those KE's you will make a statement for AT. I can send you better directions if you decside to make the run.

We should try to get Thunderdan to make the trip as well. In fact we could make this a mini ThunderRun. ActivethunderTodd and Jesse James could make this run as well. What do y'all think. Tbikini and I are in for sure.

Thunder RUN locations?

I saw a thread on the general board from Chris, a fellow AT owner making a run from Miami to Paradise Island. I was thinking thatthe could be a good starting point for planing our run and where we are running to. Here is a reply from Steve David on the run.

The 180 miles are open ocean miles. Safest bet is first to Bimini, which is about 55 miles. Clear Customs in Bimini (Big Game Resort). Then to Chub Cay which is the longest segment, about 90 miles across the Bahama banks, this section is les than 10 feet deep and usually pretty smooth. Then from Chub Cay into Nassau is another 40 miles or so, much of that in what's known as the Tongue of the Ocean. It's real deep, and can be very nasty. Plan ahead, watch the weather, morning is usually best.
Good fuel availability at the refrenced stops, although cost will run from $2.95 per gallon and up.

WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK?

H2OWarrior here

I think we would rather run through the Key's. I am a little fearful of running in the open ocean with no experience. Besides Tbikini has this thing about sharks:eek:

The Keys sound good too me.....Better sights and good old USA.!

Key Largo would be a fun place to go. The Mariott is nice the Westin is great and the Tiki Bar is fun. Can take a ride to have lunch at the Fish Company.
