Yellow 37 in the classifieds

Anyone know this boat? It says in the ad that it has a poker run "light" layup.....is this boat faster than other 37's with 525's? I emailed the owner, but heard nothing back.

Know the boat well.

The boat was originally deemed the "Chief 37" when Active Thunder had a brief marketing marriage with Chief Powerboats. When Chief went by the wayside, the boat was rebadged as an Active Thunder 37.

It's one of the first boats with the new dash including cupholders in the middle/left, and moving the accessory switches to the top of the dash, under the windscreen. The boat was in the Miami Boat Show as well. It is made with a slightly lighter layup, and lighter cabin (via components; as it does not have a cabin liner).

When George had the boat for sale in New York, he did have the boat up to 91mph with some very custom props.

Sydwayz,

So is it a true AT like all other 37's (hull, rigging, cabin etc.)? And, is the cabin basically unfinished? Thanks!

It is a fully finished cabin. It was just "brought in through the door" via components, rather than a solid 1-piece liner. Its got some laminates, and other different materials inside. Its really sharp. The boat was entirely built by Pat & Company, so its 100% AT.

There have been a couple boats that have run 90+ with 525s. That's a fact; period. Pat builds the boats and pretty much sets them all up to run 87ish with 525s. It's up to the owner to take it further if they so chose. But like I said, its going to take some custom props, and a bit of tweaking.

Maybe some should not cast stones.

91-92 with a smaller, much much lighter boat, same power...hmmmm, sounds like Pantera may want to use some AT hull technology to up those speeds a bit.

So just think if the A/T was 1 foot shorter and same weight as the pantera the A/T would be at 100mph, and if the pantera was the weight and length of the A/T it would do maybe 80. ENOUGH SAID:drink: AND THAT IS ONE SWEET 37

I will say this... Threads like this one has turned into are exactly why Pat doesn't talk about speeds or build a boat to attain a certain speed. They are not cookie-cutter. Every single one is custom, meaning options, (exact) center of gravity, and other specs are different on each and every boat.

If you build a cookie-cutter boat, you will have cookie- cutter speeds. If you build a plain-jane boat, you will have speeds that reflect the weight savings. Cookie-cutter and plain-jane are NOT what ATs are all about.
