Getting ready to put the drives back on and was looking over some past threads, is the correct set up 1/8 inch toe in with the props turning out ? Props are bravo 4 blade 32's

Mine is set at whatever it was when the boat was built. That's why I suggested checking with Pat.

Due to the previous drives and setups, Laz's bar was not as it came from the factory.

Just want to get everything back to stock set up, I understand that things where switched back and forth a few times so I figured if I put it back to factory specs that would be the best place to start. Does Pat keep the set up specs on each boat on record ? If it aint broke dont fix it but if it aint right put it back to stock is my motto. The drives are just about done and getting ready to refinish all the hardware so I figured I would get all the stock specs to insure the right set up. Want to make sure we run good at this summer poker runs.

Sounds like that may be the case, I will give him a call to ensure proper set up.

The theory is to toe it in an 1/8" and then the prop's torque will bring it back to zero which will give you an exact, perfect 0 degree drive setting.
Take a tape or tram and get it close. Don't lose sleep over it. Truth be told it won't effect a thing if it's in or out. In a car the toe-in effects tire wear due to the fact the tires are 'skdding' over the pavement if too much or too little. In a boat, not the case. Hope this helps. |
Pat thank you, that backs up my understanding of the initial preload on the toe in, thank you for the clarification. There are lots of different view points on this set point and it is always good to hear it from the builder. I just really want to set it up the way it was ment to run so I am not chasing my tail. Things are coming along nicely and it should be ready in time for the summer. Will keep you posted.
