I've got details on where we're staying prior to the run if you're interested. See link below, we'll be there Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights.

tfarmer 05-07-2009 09:32 PM

Im looking at doing this. Ive never been ther. How far is rivers rest from where the action goes down?

R Addiction 05-07-2009 09:48 PM

Rivers Rest is on the Chickohominy River. It is about 40 miles by water to Hopewell where the Run starts, Then its 90 miles down the river to Portsmouth. Its a great time with a bunch of great people.:ernaehrung004:

ACTIVESHACK 05-08-2009 07:29 AM

We have 7 ATs entered in the run now. I have 2 more that should be here soon. :ernaehrung004:

After just driving 3000 miles in 4 days I beg to differ on your thought about driving at night. Especially after I had to work on the trailer.

That would have sucked at night and I might not have seen it.

R Addiction 05-10-2009 07:00 PM

I stress so bad when I tow, so I would rather tow at night with less traffic. I carry everything under the sun just in case.:p

Steve, what's up with the trailer?

I had a nice little "adventure" with mine today too.

Just the dust cap off the hub, no biggie, but I did have to take the wheel off to tap it back on.

Note to self: Find a socket large enough to carry with me that I can use to tap the cap back on, in case it happens again.

Adventure?

Sydwayz 05-10-2009 08:04 PM

I have a little piece of a 2x4 that is just small enough to fit through the hub opening for tapping them back on.

I tried to put in Monsoon on the Chickahominy River a few miles up river from Mark's place. Seems as though the full moon last night created the lowest of low tides at the exact moment I was trying to launch. It didn't go so well. Mark is able to use that ramp at any tide, but apparently not THIS low tide today. I had to pull it back up the ramp with the boat about 12" back on the trailer, and wait a couple hours.

One engine overheating. (simple fix)
Hit a stump yesterday with the Mini-Hawk. (wanted a new prop anywayz.)
And now a trailer cluster today.

I hope I'm finished with these "issues" for this season.

Yeah, had a piece of 2x4 with me, but no saw. Had the wheel off in 3 minutes and back on just as quick.

Guess I'll cut a piece of 2x4 tomorrow and stick it in my tool box.

What size 2x4 should I cut for my tool box...... and even though I am going to get flamed for this... Does anyone want to point out any other tools I should be carrying?

Also:*Note to self buy a tool box*

Better ask and be safe then sorry later on.

You're better off having my cell number with you.

You don't have any Part A's to remove, so you're all set. :drink:

1) IMPELLARS!! you can't ever have TOO many IMPELLARS
2) Belts always should have belts
3) set (maybe just one) cheap backup prop/s
4) Fluids..both for the engine/drives but more important for
you.
5) A big long tow rope
6) and GAS..plenty of GAS ..you should never leave
home without it..or else you will need the rope.:evilb:

YEAh...just take Thunderstruck aka McThunderGyver with ya and ya covered!!!
That boy knows some magic!!!
Also nail some 2x4s (2,3 or 4) together so if you have a flat just pull trailer up on them and change the suspended flat.
and chocks
That way you don't have to worry about unloading the big jack and jackstands.

Thunderstruck 05-18-2009 07:28 PM

I take two spare tires and rims, a hub assembly that can replace a bad bearing (replace the whole hub). After splitting my lip with a tire iron (the cross bar type) and getting 14 stitches in my lip on July 4, I bought an 18V cordless impact with the right sockets. Never leave home with the trailer without the impact.

Make sure your jack is rated for big lbs, especially if you have torsion bar axles. You will have to lift the whole side of the trailer to change a tire with torsion bar axles. I have a 12 ton bottle jack.

The 2x4 is to replace the dust cap/buddy bearing with a good whack from a hammer and to support the jack on soft ground.

I would understand how to run your motor with the procharger belt off just in case. You move the air cleaner to the intake like it's stock and take the belt off.

Thunderstruck 05-18-2009 07:40 PM

If all else fails find the AT Onstar button and Pat will come get you.

Pretty cool engineering. I like the sealed tube with torsion bar inner.

Heard that the torsion bars axles aren't good for trip axle trailers because they won't shift the load back and forth like leaf springs. However, my trailer is almost perfectly level on my hitch so the effect is minimal on the tires if any.
