A/T windshield/deflector

My windshield was crazed like somebody used windex on it. I removed it and sent it to Acrylico, I have a 2005 28'. They are making a new one and also the hatch lip. I'm not sure what other models are the same, maybe Pat will chime in. If any of you need one speak with Carlos, he can use mine as a pattern. Their price's seemed very reasonable. If you speak with him my last name is Rick. http://acrylico.com/default.aspx Doug

Thanks for the info yesterday Doug. I am calling Carlos tomorrow. Hopefully he can make one in blue for me.

Is that the little deflector across the front of the fairing ? I could also use a new one.

Yup, Thats it. But I don't know if the one on your 37 is the same as mine. Somebody here should know. Doug

They are different.

how tall is it, mine i had made is 4" and works well if sitting in the seat the wind goes over your head, 28 and 32 should be the same.

Sydwayz 04-27-2009 07:51 AM

Just remove it and take it to your local plastics shop. I can have mine redone for about $100 bucks. Biggest advantage to having it done local is you can have the plastics shop drill your holes to match your existing piece; vs. Pat shipping in a blank and risking shipping damage.

Is that just a lexan piece ?

Sydwayz 04-28-2009 06:56 AM

Yes, it is.

Mine is about 4" high and when laid flat about 71" long. I'm not sure what it's made from. Acrylico has a hardening process as a option. Doug

Actually it gets a little more complicated than that. The piece is Lexan, which while impact resistant, is very soft and really must be hard-coated else it won't last the year. If the piece didn't have the two bends in it, it would be fairly simple to use Lexan MR (Marr Resistant) but that coating splits if you bend it so you have to coat AFTER you bend it.
The Active Thunder ones that I've see have been merely bent on site and screwed in. That's why they get all that crazing at the bend. The idea is to pre-bend it so that the stresses can be taken out.
The nice thing about Lexan (vs acrylic) is that it's so easy to drill.
We finished coating the pieces today so I'll send them along to see what you think of them.

Carlos, I'll post pic's after I get and installed. Doug
