Poker Runs
 

Ok it's a new year and since it's colder than hell outside I'm thinking happy thoughts, like poker runs. I'm just thinking about which runs I would like to try to get to this year and I've got a bit of a dilemma. Do we go to the James run or do we go to Destin? There is no way we can do both or that would be the easy answer. I think I know Mark's answer but I like going to new places and we've never been to Destin. I know a few of you have done both so what do you think?
What other runs will see a cult presence this year?

Impossible to choose! TOTALLY different events.

1 is a 200 mile round trip party by boat with some of the best boating folks on the planet..

The other is a 200+ boat party in the heart of one of the US Spring Break Capitals.

If you have to chose, you can't go wrong.

Destin ..trust me. Totally different than anything you have done before. And they have shrimp & grits!! and A.J.'s(very famous hangout)
and Hellin'BacK!!!!!!!(that's a pizza bar)
and don't forget hanging it out and gettin' some serious airtime in the jetties..
If you have to choose between the two..you've done Jammin..and whatta party and group of good friends and boaters..BUT,..try something totally different!

I would say you are right but I don't think I would feel real comfortable in an aging boat like mine. Pat we need to go and take a new 525 boat. :cool:

Hmm, could be. Might do an all boys run up river this year and let my rev limiter meet us at Tidewater. :evilb:

I like Chuck and Pat's idea of hitting the Bahamas.

On the other hand, wouldnt mind trying all three.

Time to get out the calender and start making plans.

There's always room for 1 more steve.

Really enjoyed Jacksonville two years ago.
The prerun to either St. Augustine or the one to Fernidina Beach and then the poker run great scenery and stops with the occasional party. Fun central location. Splash the boat ..park the truck and trailer until you need to leave town..hotel, docking entertainment all in one location.
Actually you could leave Jax and on the way home leave the boat in Destin for the run about 8 wks later.

All of you are required to attend the "Jammin on the James" this year :drink:

Destin is beautiful and AJ's does Rock! Whataburger at 12am is key also.......but miss the JOTJ!!!!! Ain't gonna happen!:evilb:

Wow thats a lot of feet on that dock, I think I would have been too wigged out to have any fun if I was tied up to that dock.

That dock is usually 18 inches out of the water and this was taken right behind my boat. Luckily I was rafted to a 38 Hustler and was not tied to the dock. The swim platform of the AT was on the water and here were 8 people on the boat , All behind the bolsters:eek: Good Times, Good Times!!:evilb:

I have never been to Jammin, But destin is my favorite event. You get to run all the stops at your own pace and stop and hang out with your buds at anytime on the course.

Destin is the best high performance "event" in the country, hands down!

JOTJ is more of a one day event with a great long run and a “big time” party at the end. Top 10 event for sure.

If you do Destin, you must make it a week long or 5 day long event to get the full experience. Wed-Monday is a must at a minimum.

Must plan a trip to Whataburger at 3am or later as part of any trip to Destin.

Is it just me or does anyone else see it....?

Didn't you take that picture? That was thee best dock party EVER!!!! The AT had so many people on it I was a bit worried at times:eek: Do you have any shots of my boat that day on the dock?
