I was running my boat down in Indian River, Delaware last weekend, almost zero performance boat scene down there. All older people with pontoon boats and fishing boats. I spotted a nice looking AT sitting at idle in the middle of the bay and thought, well that boat sure looks familiar.
Turns out it was Jess and his Arneson AT. Pretty cool to talk to him and run next to him. He lives down there on the south side of the bay. His Ford motor is a 600ci, he said somewhere in the 800hp range, but I have no idea how accurate that is as he did admit that it wasnt dynoed. He still said 86mph as the best speed. The drive works, but doesnt sound like it gave him the speed that he was hoping for. Still work to be done with it though.
The boat ran pretty well, very flat with alot of wetted surface at speed. He said that since it is a straightbottom he has trouble getting the bowlift necessary to get all the speed out of it. Apparently he has some sort of foil on the way to pull the stern down some, like that little Donzi had on the bottom of the skeg. Trouble finding the right prop combo for bow lift and speed.
I ran away from him easily though....:party-smiley-004:
