How Thick Is an A/T Floor?
 

I am using the toggles recommended by our fearless leader to tighten up my bolster captains chair. I purchased 4 of them and solicited Remedy's help with the promise of Rum, Steak and Active Thunderwear to come and do all the maintanence on OCD this Spring.

I have to go to fastenal to get the bolts. The Toggles explain what diameter bolts to buy but not the length. It will depend on two aspects.

1. How thick is the floor?
2. Approx. how much room between the gas tank and the bottom of the floor?

I still will purchase a few different lengths, but was hoping to narrow it down.

First person to come up with the answer gets a round on me! :drink:

Pull a screw out of the bolster. Stick a coat hanger in it and you will find the answers.....

Would do if I had easy access to the boat.. I hope to get into her this weekend but I was going by fastenall tomorrow and thought someone may know?

Don't worry you have the jet pilot coming in to fix it. Look at OCD with 1000 posts!:evilb:

Buy them 3" long and lop them off if needed. Buy a couple nuts to match the bolts to the chase the threads after you lop them off.

I agree, but be careful with stainless, it likes to gall, I would get the nuts in something harder like grade 8, since they are not gonna end up in the boat anyway, and make sure to lube them up with something before chasing the threads.

Put a nut on the bolt first. Thread it up to the spot of cut, cut the bolt. Then unthread the nut. It will clean the bolt up nicely.

OCD. Stop worrying!! I will take care of it!! I will hook u up!! As James says, just relax!!! Fastenal will be open as everywhere else. After I get it out I will see how deep the holes are. It's no big deal. Will be good as new!! You should be more concerned about the weather... I'm not working in the rain, snow, or cold crap you get up there!!! :evilb:
