Remedy to fix OCD!

In a surprise appearance REMEDY will be flying up to cold NH tomorrow to help fix some issues and perform some maintanence on OCD.

Great to have good friends to help! :drink:

Jobs on the board:

Install Toggles for Captain's chair
Replace impeller and housing
Replace gear oil on outdrive
Install new bracket for trailer fender (ripped off by dear!)
If the part is in, replace brake line and fix brakes.

Plenty of Steak and Captain shall be on hand for him! :drink:

Pics to follow!

What about the loose bolsters, were they fixed already? With the size of that list, you better call Frontier airlines and tell em the" fox got in the rabbit cage "and the captain will be out of work another day! It shouldn't really be a problem, I'm sure they can get another expert to "push" some buttons! :grinser010:

LMAO!!!!

No bolster not fixed..... Number 3 on the list today! After getting into the boat it appears it is only the front left bolts (only 2) that are loose.. However, if I do nothing it will just get worse.

Will get pics and post tonight!

Got Er Dun!

Wow.... 24 hours really does make a difference!!!

After a bunch of rain showers, trips to Fastnall, Lowes, Napa, Calls to our fearless leader, 4 toggles, fiberglass work, silcone, new impeller, fuel filter and a some tools not usually used on a boat (at least not for engine work - pic to follow) Remedy did great work and OCD is looking and running good.

When we removed the bolster it appears we weren't the first one to attempt a fix....... For a real permanent fix we need to put plates under the floor as Chuckbeecher said, but we definately did a very good job with what we had.

(pics to follow)

The front screws had already been screwed out and toggles inserted. So those had to be removed and we used a ton of fiberglass in the front and back. We then used 4 new toggles as well. The seat is SOLID as a rock...

Remedy showed me how to change the impeller and housing and started her up... What a great sound after 8 months of hibernation..

Thanks again to my buddy Remedy the Flying Mechanic. :drink:

It was a great trip. Good to see the family and Summer Rae for the first time!! Can't believe how much Sammy is growing! Won't be long and he will be on the throttle!! After the steaks we had last nite... steaks at the compound are gonna be great this year!!

Generally repairs went well and now to see of it floats!!

Now let's see... maybe its time to work on my boat list!

Back to my regularly scheduled button pushing!!

Pete280 05-06-2011 08:56 PM

when I test drove the boat in 2005 the owner said he had a fat friend that ripped the passenger bolster out on a trip to the bahamas, no lie

R Addiction 05-07-2011 06:08 AM

Good job Button pusher. Now go back to falling asleep at the controls:lolhit:

Remedy made use of some equipment not usually used on a boat (for mechanical purposes that is) to get the impeller in place. They don't call him the flying magical mechanic for nothin! :drink: Thanks again buddy!

He spun it so they all are going in the same direction. No worries... Also started her up and it is working perfectly.:drink:

R Addiction 05-08-2011 08:42 PM

Ok.....was that some sort of "personal" lubricant Scott? Not sure I want to know where that came from!

Don't get him all worked up Shack... he will be takin it off to see if they are still like that!!! :evilb:

It doesn't matter how it goes in... just slide it on the shaft and give the pump a spin before bolting it up. I showed him all that in case he ever has to change one on the water. Especially with only one engine! I usually use 3m silicon paste, it won't eat the rubber if you are not gonna start it right away, but I think the wet worked better!! Slid right in. :grinser010:

OCD is coming along as a boat owner!! :drink::drink:

He assured me it was a new unused bottle as I was giving him the your kidding look!! :lolhit:

ActiveThunder 05-09-2011 07:59 AM

Ok, let me get this straight. You keep a bottle of lube in your toolbox? And this is for changing impellors?

I'm not buying it.

I'm thinking we need a moderator to clean this thread up.

OCDACTIVE 05-09-2011 08:07 AM

It wasn't in the boat.. nor my tool box.... He asked for something that was non-corrosive that would work...

I may keep it on board now and in my toolbox just for a laugh.

ActiveThunder 05-09-2011 08:44 AM

Non-corrosive? Non-corrosive????

Got some rust on your nuts or something?

OCDACTIVE 05-09-2011 08:46 AM

non-corrosive on the impeller!

Has someone seen my shovel for I seem to have dug myself into a hole here... LOL

outriggers 05-09-2011 08:56 AM

You mean guy's don't carry a bottle of lube with you at all times? You never know when you might need to put some on your impeller before you put it in. :) Doug

REMEDY 05-10-2011 11:08 PM

Non corrosive... I guess that stuff has many uses on a boat!! Especially in salt water!! :lolhit:
