Assuming you have dual water pick up Bravo since you said the regular flush muffs won't stay on. I had a Bravo outdrive that only had the front water pick up. (Correct me if I am wrong, but they only made those for one year - 2000.) That required a special flush muff that Merc charged an arm and a leg for.
But, never had a problem flushing my Bravos that had dual water pick ups. It will shoot water out the front pick up when you turn the hose on, but as soon as you fire up the engine the water pump will take it up.
Try a better set of muffs. :evilb:
