Time to clear up a few things here. Tebo or Jeremy if you will was told exactly what the boat was before he came down here, including pictures of flaws (its used) and exactly what we knew about the boat. It was my partner's best friends boat who lives in Long Island (island surrounded by salt water!!!) Used the boat a few times in fresh lakes but it is a salt water boat. The paint on the boat is in good shape for its age with very few blemishes, very presentable still. Not brand new 2012 paint but I could live with it fine.

The boat has new Bravo drives with 2 hours run time, 650 Zul motors with just over 100 hours, and like we said one worn gimbal. The interior is presentable, original as far as I know and it does have small nicks and tears from the engine hatch open and closing. That is the way it was built and the way it fits. The engine room needs detailing to meet my standards but what do I know about go-fast boats?

This is a perfect winter project boat for someone who likes to tinker. The gimbals are from 99 so pull them off and check them, its called maintenance. Yank the motors, touch up the paint, paint the bilge and wrap the wiring, cool project.

Make a new interior, its 13 years old and did its job. When you are done you will have a nice boat and a lot of pride in what you did. I Did the same thing with my Cigarette and lots of people who looked at that thought absolutely not, pass on it, too far gone. Experts!! That is the problem with this site, so many experts that have a little jon boat but huge opinions. These are go-fast boats, designed to run in slop and they require constant attention and maintenance.

This guy was looking for a new boat at basement prices, time to get real. Just don't bash me or my people here. They work hard and are very proud of what we have accomplished. Our reputation is stellar and will stay that way. We refunded his money immediately too.

Any one with questions or want to talk to me feel free to call.

WOW!

If anything of this had been mentioned before my $2000 last min trip to Florida, I would have never gone!!! It is nice that you lay out the flaws, AFTER I see the boat. You can get as defensive as you want, all I did was lay out the facts as to the condition of the boat. At the end of the day, there is a reason the boat is still there. It if it was a decent boat for teh $$$, it would be gone already, don't you think!

Sorry, I ran out of time and could not complete my last post.

The info I was given prior to looking at the boat was very vague. I was told the boat was from New York state. When I ask which part, and if fresh or salt they never gave me a definite answer. I ask more than once, Lake Erie, or Ocean? Not that salt water bothers me, just would have liked to know up front. Besides, there are a lot of freshwater boaters that do not keep proper maintenance on their watercraft.

I was NOT sent pictures of any kind of the boat. The only pictures I was privy to were the ones on boatsdirect.com. As I said before, had I known what to expect, I would have never made the trip.

Was never told of a worn gimble by the seller. Not a major deal breaker, but would have been nice to know. I was told of that by the local surveyor I contacted prior flying down. Surveyors name is Ed Cozzi. He gave me a heads up of things he noticed on the boat. It may be a "maintenance issue", but what's that tell you. The boat did not get proper maintenance. Besides a sloppy gimbal ring is a repair/replacement issue!

Before going to Florida, I talked to Zul's shop direct. I ask the seller why the starboard intake had been removed on engines that new. He didn't know (not a big deal, not his personal boat). Zul told me they personally removed the intake due to a assumed valve train issue. Turned out to be gummed up carbs from sitting. Just pointing this out to show that I did my homework regarding the boat.

Also, I was not trying to get "new boat at basement prices". That's what a 1999 37 AT sells for. At the time there were 2 other 1999/2000's on the market with prices between $65,000 and $79,000 (one included a hydro hoist) Just thought it was a unique looking boat.

Finally, notice that the seller doesn't argue the faults I found with the boat. I'm just being honest as to what I found so others question the condition before hand. Dude, all people want to know is the truth before we make a trip to So. Florida. It would be a good project boat, but let that be known up front. I was not expecting pristine, but wasn't expecting a project boat, either. I was disappointed when I stepped out of the car and seen the boat for the first time, form 40' away.

If you have nothing to hide or sugar coat, get a survey of the boat and provide it to anyone interested in purchasing. Simple.

I have no personal vendetta against them, their company, etc... And I'm not trashing the boat to get it at a better price or anything of that matter. As for my jon boat, my last 2 boats were Powerquest. Some of the boats in my circle include twin engine Checkmates (one is 100+ mph), 2 Blackthunders, Fountains, a Sonic, etc. So I'm far from new to performance boating! One of my Powerquest was a 1999 I purchased new, and sold last year. It was in 10x the shape of the AT!

After looking at other boats on their lot, I do not think a boat of this condition is typical of their inventory. From what I could see, the other boats were in great shape! I think when they got this on trade in, it may have been a little rougher that even they expected. I would imagine they took it in sight unseen.

They did return my deposit without any argument.

Anyone with specific questions regarding my experience, send me a PM on OSO.

Jeremy

I was in Key Largo last week and took a quick look at the boat (did not board). Externally it was in decent shape. Wish I had gotten on board to take a better look.

I am the surveyor who fell in love with the 37 AT when I was in Key Largo doing another survey at that facility. I did not do a full survey or inspection, but I did notice the vessel had "All the Right Stuff"! (Steering, etc.) I felt for a 1999 it had great potential and frankly if I didn't have my "play money" tied-up in my car collection, I would own the boat and I could have saved Tebo a trip and some money. Sorry about that Tebo.

I noticed the worn gimbal and the scratches and dings. Had I been able to purchase it, I was planning to give the boat back to the AT factory for updates to the interior upholstery and new gauges. I like the graphics and colors and was happy they didn't make the boat look dated. If somebody buys my 1971 GTO I will own that boat.
