Engine hatch lift cylinder failure

The cylinder on my port side quite working over the winter.
Can they be rebuilt?
Can they be made to lift faster?

Don't know about the rebuild but there is a little black box that will boost the voltage to the ram.

I went through that on my Sonic. I believe I installed a relay ( little black box ), which as I recalled helped with the voltage drop by not running power all the way to the dash and then back to the rams. I cut my lift time by 35%. There is a thread somewhere about Powerquests and adding the relay to them. Try a search.

I have the same boat, same year, and same problem. Can you post what you find out I havent got mine out yet but that is on my list of things to fix

I picked up a hand full of relays and connections and will rip into when we get back from Florida.
It started to work when I ran it down for a bit then ran it up.
It appears to have been out of sinc with the starboard side.
It pushed up to full open with assistance and now seems to work.
Very slowly.
I will let you know what I came up with.
Thanks 509 for the heads up, it is a good read.

I was thinking of using car hatch pistons to relieve most of the weight on the ram. Should reduce wear, and allow it to be faster.
