Sure, that is easy to do to a 525.....now warranty it for the guy that will get in his boat and hold it wide open for an hours at a time :D There are many that are not mechanincally inclined, that buy these boats and run them hard. Increasing cubes and air flow was the safe way to get more power out of this platform, and it probably still soots the transom...which is safe :lolhit:

Say what you will, but I still believe that there are smarter guys at merc than some give credit too.

I think they have a whole team of smart people... my stuff is basically stock with better heads and manifold. Stock comp, timing, cam etc. Nothing on kill. I can leave it wot all day. The stock 525 is rich until wot full load then a bit lean with mercs stock tune.

I just think they could have done better with a BBC based na engine. But I'm not so sure the market is there in this economy.

probably because it would cut into their supercharged engine sales..
Even N/A a quad cam big cube engine would make 650-700hp easily..

That would prob make a great replacement for the 700. Probably last forever too!

I will verify but I believe Merc is building the 502 block themselves.

After Obama bailed out GM I think all we coulda got from them is welfare motors. :party-smiley-004:

The 565 leaves a lot to be desired in the looks department, but I believe the engine cover is a blank canvas to make the motors match the boat's paint and graphics.

hint hint!! :drink:

GM performance is still going strong with lots of 502 block crate engines avail. Blocks will be available forever. Pretty sure 565 is the same just 4.250 stroke. 454 bore (4.250) blocks are gone... hence no 496 anymore. I'm sure the EPA and treehuggers and Obama will figure out how to squash this stuff eventually. Our boats will be required to get 54.6 MPG. Lol
