I highly recommend the Hydromotive 5 blades. Do a search and you should find a thread by me about them. As Sideways said they hook up really well so you need to be good on the sticks.!

She is being well taken care and running real good. Running 3500-3800 rpm I can normally get around 160 miles... tanks will be at half which means get to the gas pumps. As Macklin said, the hydro 5 blades are real nice..great cruise, easy to get on plane.

How's the cruising speed with hydro 5 blades vs the 32 Bravos? What about labbed Max's? Is 60 mph @ 3500 rpm a possiblity?

sommerfliesby 07-02-2013 09:29 AM

60 mph with my 32s is about 3700-3800 rpm.

Not a chance. And despite what you might think, that is the truth. You had an AT once and you've moved on. But at the end of the day you are still a fellow boater and on the dock we are all the same.

Not too shabby. I would think 5 blades would drop the rpm a little lower too. I spend 90% of my time under 4000 rpm, really want to be able to cruise 55 - 60 at fairly low rpm in the next boat.

Shakespeare, just say you're a dick or something I can understand. I realize you're so much better than me no need to show off.

Thing is, I don't think you are a dick. I think you take things a bit too seriously. Remember, YOU are the one with the problem, not me. If you think that is "showing off," so be it.

I had some issues getting on plane in the rough with these props. Plus I have always preferred stock props for their durability and bite. That's why I stuck with the stock Bravo 32's until I decided to buy the Hydromotives...the year I sold it.

funny how you always have 5 blades on for sea trials, but the boats you sell usually have Bravos on them. :)

Wow, that is good...I know I don't get close to that with the 5 blades at 3800.

laszlo01 07-02-2013 07:39 PM

Try a set of Hydro P5x's.... see if you like them

I have a guy trying to sell a set of these at my lake? Will this help my 33? I've hit 91 once and 88-89 on most any day with stock 32

Dayum, that is some slow water you got up there John.

I was seeing 60 at around 3500 down here.

Might be time to have them tuned up.

MILD THUNDER 07-03-2013 11:35 AM

Question for you guys. I noticed when I was out on sommerfliesby's 37, we were running about 80mph and tachs were around 5200-5300. He says 3800RPM nets him 60mph.

Those seem like really high slip numbers. I was shocked when mikey told me he had 32's on it. I know bravo's are a little light on actual pitch, but even punching 31.2'' of pitch for the 32 bravo, slip comes back 20-23%. Im assuming these are 1.5 ratio drives.

I guess my question is, is this high slip % normal on these boats? Its just a number, and really who cares if the boat runs good, just curious for my own knowledge. My old vintage non stepped fountain turns 17x28p cleaver props to 88mph at 5600rpm. Slip is 11-12%.

sommerfliesby 07-03-2013 11:52 AM

Good question Joe. Although, I'm more of the "really who chares" as long as it runs good crowd, I'm curious as well.

EZEF350 07-03-2013 12:14 PM

talking to the guy at hydromotive yesterday and he said the same thing. he said that is to much slip. he said u want around 12% slip and w the 32's he calculated 22% slip. im sure he is trying to sell me a prop but he was also making sense. i told him that pat recommended the 32's and he said to ask pat if they supposed to slip 22%. i am pretty sure i am gonna try a set of 5 blades. With hydomotive i can return them or change pitch if i dont like em so im gonna get a set. hydro is recommending a 30 pitch 5 blade.

Sydwayz 07-03-2013 12:16 PM

Have you talked to Brett at BBlades? I would not buy a prop without his advice.

EZEF350 07-03-2013 12:40 PM

no i havent but i will. i am all about advise from pro's especially when it comes to dropping $2k+ on a set of props.

I went with 29's so I could keep them stock. They were spot on.

Are you going up to Boyne Thunder? I have a set of Hydro's that your welcome to try but I doubt you will be able to spin the all the way up. I think they are 33s so as I say I doubt you could spin them too high but you could still get a feel for them.

Jluloff 07-05-2013 10:13 AM

They say 30s on them or were they worked on to be 29s

Only saw between 52-53 at 3500rpm and ~57-58 at 3800rpm depending on water conditions.....but never saw 60pmh at 3500 since I took delivery ....so about 58hrs put on so far from me...184hr total.

Yup was the same i ran when was stock. boat liked them alot

Macklin 07-06-2013 10:28 AM

My bad! Receipt does say 30. Sorry bout that.

I think I remember Laszlo talking about his 29's, but the guy at Hydromotve figured I would need to go up to 30 being in the salt.

John, since you run in fresh, you should consider sending them in for labbing. You will want to get the Bravos tuned first. I had a local prop shop tune them and was not thrilled with the results.

EZEF350 07-15-2013 07:37 PM

so we have the same year boat, and mine is about exactly the same as yours. at 3500 rpm my boat runs 51 mph and 60 at 4000 and tops out at 80 maybe 81 at 5200 w 4blade 32p bravo 1. so r you running 5 blades? brand? pitch?

Macklin's boat was a big lighter as his boat was built without a cabin liner.
