That was my first thought when I read it as well.

The molds were sold to someone who was making CC's out of them. Then they were destroyed in a hurricane. If my memory serves.

I would assume Pat will block the old 28 mold down to 22 instead of build one from scratch. Let's see some cad drawings, I know you got'em!

I don't believe your memory serves.

Also, you can't just put a dam in a mold and call it a new boat. There is a reason why lifting strakes are placed where there they are in each and every boat, and sticking a dam a mold not always mean the smaller version is going to worth a damn.

Testing and tuning by some using the chuck a dam anywhere in the mold technique:

So the 31 CC was blocked down to create the original 28, and the 32 was blocked down to create the revised 28. But I am wrong in assuming that you could make a 22 by blocking down the 28?

ActiveThunder 01-08-2014 12:47 PM

We are going to use the 22 mold we have designed and built with the patented DDC hull. However the deck will be a smaller version of the big boats. You get three power options: outboards, outboards or out boards.....

Crossett 01-08-2014 12:51 PM

Outboards... plural? As in a pair of 300 XS's?

ActiveThunder 01-08-2014 12:56 PM

Actually the 31 CC was, in fact, dammed right at the transom to create the original 28. This was in 1999. The 31 included the 'engine bracket/ swim platform' in it's LOA.

In 2004 we decided to pull a part from the AT 32 V-bottom mold so from then on it was a different bottom. You could say we dammed it. The interesting part was that the lifting strakes actually worked a little better than the original '28/31' mold since we didn't touch the lifting strakes.

The 29 will be a new mold with the DDC patented hull.

If you tried to dam the 28 ,old you would have incredibly unproportional hull sides.

Interesting idea! That would be a white knuckle ride!

That second video is hilarious. Anybody got an old mold and a dam?

Any idea where the first 28 is at now? I am guessing by my hull ID that I may have the 2nd 28 that you guys produced. ATD28V02

I assume that it is the Banshee then. If and as you said a new deck, will it have a bit more freeboard? Can't wait to see this.

Is that mean it's worth more during trade in time for a 37? Pier57 has the first fountain ever made they can't even put a price on it's worth so much. :drink:

I have one of your old neighbors Kevlar 22 velocity. It is set up with a pair of 260's. runs pretty good, about 110. Can this new boat be set up with twins. What size is the Yamama and how fast did it run. How heavy is the hull. I'm all about the white knuckle ride:eekdrop:

Now we're talking! A 22' Banshee with an Active Thunder styled topdeck and a single 300XS!! I remember talking about changing the topdeck to an AT style 15 years ago!! With a 300XS the 22' Banshee should easily see speeds in the mid to upper 90's...maybe even crack 100mph...

state1310 01-10-2014 05:46 PM

any old banshees around anymore ? would be an awesome toy on some smaller lakes .
