anybody with a 25 thunder w/ hp500 bravo1
what prop are you running. i am running a
26 4 blade predator at 5400 rpm and only
getting 72.4 on hand held gps. im told the
prop must have alot of slippage because
with my set up i should be close to 80 on gps.
boat also has a 12" ext box. any help would
be great.

Rick,

something does not make sence. That boat ran 79 mph in salt water. I think Gordo was running either 26 or 28 p bravo I at 81.7 mph. I know you boat on fresh water so that is maybe 2-3 mph slower max than salt but only 72 mph something is not right. What condtion is the prop in? Try some bravo I 26 or some labbed 28p, but 72 is way off. How long did you keep the rpms at 5400?

I have also had the speedo on that thing pegged at 80, even though it is a reg speedo I know it is good for more than 72 mph?????

Something is not right. The math doesnt even work.
Im spinning a 26P Bravo I @ 5100 and seeing 76-78 in salt water.
Im not sure what the X Dim is but I know it is more conservative than yours (If its Dans old boat).
What is the condition of your prop?

Wow That Is A Old Thread, If I Remember It Went 74.8 On Gps With The 26 B1. That Boat Is Just A Few Miles From Me, A Friend Bought It From Me When I Bought Audacity 4 Plus Years Ago, And He Never Runs It. Cool To Have 2 Active Thunders In A Small Azz Town In Pa Though....:d

Gordo 06-02-2008 05:11 PM

25 Thunder, HP500, (with APBA Factory 1 seals), 81.7 mph. Thinking I was right at 5150-5200 rpm.
Also tried a standoff box for a short time. Played with a number of drive height / prop type /pitch-dia. combos. Andy (cig-3?) and/orBrad, (Funhome) may remember better but I think we were just touching 83.0-83.1 in perfect chop with the box. Problem was we had so much bow lift it was not a good rough water setup. As the saying goes; It's not how fast you go, but HOW you go Fast !!!

Gordo 06-02-2008 05:21 PM

BTW, Most of our testing was with a lab finish 28p Bravo 4-blade. We also played with a cut down 30p Bravo 4-blade, a couple of 26ish <wink> Hydromotive 4blds and a (very) trick/custom Spenilli <sp?> 4 blade.
