Fastest 37??

Going along with toolatevtec's thread, what is the fastest a 37 AT has ever run??

TooLateVTEC 10-19-2017 07:53 PM

I want to know this too, LOL !

Ones like yours with the 700's run close to/ do run 100 dont they?

I really need to ride in one......but its cheaper if I dont LMAO

Rookie 10-19-2017 09:22 PM

Not it!... lol

I have the old Poker Runs America performance test from when my boat was new and it ran 105 with a pair of 16" X 35P 5 blades which I have been on the hunt for. Another nice thing with those props is it was running 70 at 4000 burning 78 GPH, that puts the boat at about .9 MPG.

But as far as fastest 37, I think Laszlo saw some pretty high numbers when he got his boat dialed in with the bravos. Have any 37's seen 110???????

Sydwayz 10-20-2017 09:55 AM

The 37 "Outlaw" Race Boat that at one time had 1200HP motors in front of SSM VI drives was over 120mph when it was dialed in and on the race course. At last time the boat/owner were in circulation, it had twin 800s, pleasure conversion, and the VI drives were still on it. The owner picked it up from Pat after the new cockpit was installed, and he's been dark ever since; and he was going to dial it in again himself.

The one that is in Peru now, that Customryder owned, originally built/owned by a guy in Maryland, then to Virginia briefly after Customryder...
...has Whipples on 525s with Bravo XRs. The OO from Maryland claimed it ran a best of 112, which many were skeptical of; Pat included. Remember, Pat doesn't design his boats for uber-top speed trying to eek out the last decimal point of MPH. He designs them for consistent and safe handling at any speed; especially in the rough.

302Sport 10-20-2017 10:54 AM

LOL I know about the 112 claim but didn't really take it seriously. I heard the whippled 525 boats ran around 105-106mph, I thought I read awhile back that Laszlo was in that range or higher.

What were the best props on the higher HP boats??

boatfreak 10-20-2017 07:24 PM

I think I know who has the fastest one now.

t500hps 10-20-2017 10:52 PM

Do you know what "Whatever" ran when Stan owned it? Over 100 but I don't know by how much. I know John had to put the step back like it was originally to get it to run well with stock 500 back in it.

If it was "Cost Effevtive" I would just like to put a step in mine. Instead of putting a decent amount of power into it.

302Sport 10-23-2017 07:13 PM

Rookie and boatfreak seem to have some insider info!! What do you guys know that we don't??

Stan had 800s in "Whatever" many years back. At the kind of speeds it was running, (95+), it was lifting the transom out of the water. As such, the step was beveled off to allow the transom to stay planted. Pat and Stan were doing the beveling with a belt sander and testing it in the intercoastal in the pouring rain in the vicinity of the 14th Street Ramp. :D

John squared the step back off to it's original configuration with the HP500 carbs back in the boat.

No inside info here. I think I have the last 37 straight bottom boat. So 8-71's are a less expensive option for more speed than putting a step in my boat.

Sorry do not get on here much any more. But yes you are correct we had 107 as our best with the old set-up and ran very well once we had the props dialed in. Will keep you posted on the new speeds this summer.

Single stepped. Weight will be in the +/- 9800lb range as are most 37AVH's

You'll be crazy fast if you can keep it stable and not break the drives, I'd guess 110+

Boat is loving the Arnesons. Little prop testing...https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fe5254fd40.png

Is "outlaw" the 37 race for sale in the classifieds? Trying to find some info on it.

It's not user friendly at first to keep the spam and bots off of the forum. You will have to put in a little effort at first. After 10 posts everything will be unlocked. Welcome to the forum.
