I have a friend that has 380's on a 27' Fountain (with a Stellings extension box) and they are day and night difference compared to the 280's. I've driven the boat many times from 0-97mph and never felt that they were dangerous. In rougher water it is really noticeable how much better the boat responds with the 380's.
Also, a 38 Fountain that we just added them to runs better with them.
I'm looking for 2 sets of plates for both of my boats now.
My $0.02

Padraig, What is the length of the tip? The Dana hp 1000's looks like both sides are tapered......The length up against the transom is 12"?, with the length of 24"?. Is the 24' length up against the transom to the tip? I made a pattern of the 280 K-Planes and would like to do the same with the 1000.... Then I can make an informed decision on what will fit the boat best.
Thank you,
Dave

Dave, my boat is 80 miles away so I can not measure them website is down for upgrades so cannot check with mfg. On CP Performance site they described them as 12 inches at transom and 9 inches at tip.
Hope this helps.

Padraig, Next time you visit your boat and if you remember, please measure. Do you remember if both sides taper evenly? If yes, I can make a template. Couldn't find the 1000's on CP............At this site, the Dana HP 1000 tip is 8"..
Thanks for getting back with me.
