28 Savage
Hey guys, currently own a 260 Sonic. Might be selling it. But there aren't too many boats out there that could replace it. But I'm thinking a 28 Savage would do it. Anybody know of any for sale? Anything I find online has been for sale a long time ago, and I get no response.

I only know of a few 37's for sale and 1 32. You might try to get in contact with Pat to see if he knows of any that are not listed anywhere. His screen name is (ACTIVETHUNDER) on here. Also try the FB active thunder group to see if anyone knows of any. There is one 28 locally, but he will not sell anytime soon.

Having owned a 26’ Sonic and been on several 28’ Active Thunders…
…I would not consider it much if a jump. Even though a 26’ Sonic is really only a 25’ hull, actually a little less considering the notched transom; the overall size of the boat and how it performs is pretty good in comparison to other boats in the 25-28’ market. If it were ME, I’d hold onto the 26’ Sonic until you are ready to step up to a twin engine boat. |
I can’t help you find your new boat but I might be interested in your Sonic.

yea, I'm starting to lean that way. I rode on a 290 Velocity last week with a 525 and although it was faster it didn't feel any bigger. Even the speed didn't feel that much faster. The 260 Sonic is a big 26 foot boat. I just thought a 28 Thunder would be a good size jump without going to twin engines. I'm getting too old to climb into a tight bilge! Plus the Thunder seems like finding a unicorn! Was also thinking maybe a 32 Sunny with twin smallblocks. But that doesn't even have an enclosed head like my Sonic.
SS Dominator Innovator XRT Don't write them all off. But definitely keep your eyes open for a 32' Thunder, which is closer in size to a 36' Sunsation. :D |
IMO the problem with the 28AT is that it's too big of a boat for a single engine.

They always sell within days when they come up for sale as well. Other builders offer(ed) 29, 30, and even 32' single BBC powered boats over the years. The 32' Sunsation single BBC boats NEVER come up for sale. |
That's unfortunate, I would of thought they would of sold a lot more of the 28 AT's with twin outboards by now, I really like that setup.

Agreed
I had a 28 AT and swapped out the 496 for a 525 it was a nice boat. Not the fastest but solid ride. I would wait and go bigger with twins if you could. The Sunsation MCOB is also nice with the additional seating for the family. The new 29 Defiant is a really nice set up, I have not seen one in person but It looks nice. And...... I only have 2 posts, what happened to my old account??lol
Hopefully you got one in the year since this thread was started |
