They have a rep in the Maryland area, but no dealer. I'd love to see that change though.

East Coast B 02-19-2003 10:37 AM

Anyone else??? Ohio is a bit far from where I am..... I just want to see the 32 in person. Just seen pics and really looks like the Sonic 31 we're interested in.... Want to make sure I do my homework before I buy into the next boat...

What do people do for service when there isn't an Active Thunder dealer within their area???

ActiveThunder 02-19-2003 06:56 PM

East Coast, what are your thoughts on sales and service from Frank Marchione and/or All-Pro Marine?

East Coast B 02-19-2003 07:14 PM

So this is where Frank landed..... Well we're getting closer to home.... That would work.... We've been all over various boats and have come back to Sonic.... And Offshore Performance has really represented the boats extremely well..... I thought we were pretty much done and settled on a decision for the next boat, but then I saw a pic of the 32 and liked the lines enough to take a look.....

East coast,

I am in New Jersey and while I have a 37, I do not mind letting you checking it out so you can see the quality of the construction etc... I also know quite a bit about the 32's as I had one on order before I moved up to my 37. Give me a shout if you have any questions or if you are interested in a tour of my boat.

east coast,

where is North hampton and where do you do your boating??

East Coast B 02-21-2003 05:19 AM

Northampton is just North of Allentown PA. As for boating, we boat on lakes in every direction, Ocean City Maryland-Delaware and intend on the Chesapeake...... We tested the 31 and 35 Sonic at kent Island and got a taste of the Chesapeake... nice... We love the 35 sonic, but have decided that price is beyond our means and it's a bit much for the lakes...

Jassman 02-21-2003 06:48 AM

East Coast B, Sonic makes a great boat, I use to have one, but, you owe it to yourself to take a ride on the 32, you will be very pleased on the performance and ride of this hull, and both boats are about the same size, the A.T. swim platform is after the 32' length, good luck and take care:cool:

East Coast B 02-21-2003 07:03 AM

I'll keep my eyes open..... I want to find a 32 with the split bolsters and check out the cabin... I'm in no rush.... Once all this dammed snow melts.... we're going to put up a new garage to store the next boat.... Was planning on 26x40x10 with a 9' door... I know the Sonic's measurement, I'll have to put a measure on that 32 just to be sure.....

AT builds so few boats to keep the quaility and workmanship amazing; that there are not many sitting on dealer floors built for spec. I will probably be corrected here, but I was told if you order a 37 AVH now, it will still take a few months for them to start on it. That is not a bad thing. There are several 32' ATs in VA. I can probably help you out on finding one to take a peak at. If you want, PM me. Mark House, aka Skater on OSO, is a huge pusher of AT, with his 37 AVH. Mark lives in Culpepper, VA, and I am sure he can show you a thing or two.

I have also heard the rumor All Pro will be picking up AT soon as well. Frank Marchone is top notch. I bought my boat from him, and would buy another in a heartbeat. Not sure what happened with OP in Grasonville, but I like everyone.

East Coast B.......Your building is not large enough for a 37:eek:

East Coast B 02-23-2003 07:20 AM

I agree, a 37 will not fit..... We're looking at the 31-32' boat range. If I didn't have to tow, we would be looking at the 35-38' range..... It's all so confusing!!!!

Jassman 02-23-2003 08:14 AM

East Coast B, just add another 5' to your length dim., this way if you ever have to upgrade to a 37-38 boat on the trailer you would be covered, a safe 43'.6" is what is needed for my 37 with swim platform on the trailer when I built my garage, thanks Jeff:D

jafo 02-23-2003 09:26 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but AT only has reps, not dealers. You won't find new ones sitting on showroom floors anywhere in the country. This is what keeps them unique.
If you want a new one, you spec it out the way you want it, and they will build it for you, or you can find a nice used one.

I tow my 37........So far just between Florida and Lake Cumberland, but I have towed it about 5,000 miles so far. It's really not that big of a deal. Sure, your as long a semi, but any diesel powere pickup can tow a 37 AVH with little problem. Go ahead and add the extra length to the building. I would make it 45' so you can service the the drives......or just look at them:rolleyes: during the Winter:D

East Coast B 02-23-2003 05:15 PM

It's more the cost of going to an upper 30's foot boat..... I'd have to take the money from the truck and trailer to pay for the bigger boat.... That's what I mean by not having to tow.... I have to buy bigger pants to get bigger pockets of money!!! I'd love to get into the big boys.... but we're expecting financially only to touch the 6 figure price for a 31-32' boat.... that's about as far as we can strech it.... Thanks for your thoughts..... 37's.... you guys are lucky!!! I'm envious!!!! Will this winter ever end????

thunderdan 02-23-2003 06:39 PM

eastcoast,

I am sure you will be real happy with the 32. It is a perfect size boat for where you/we are. It will handle the water just great and be a bunch easier to tow than the 37. I would consider building a larger garage though if you have the room. :D

Where did you hear this information?

East Coast B 03-03-2003 10:42 AM

As for a bigger garage.... Where I am going to put the garage, I could never get anything more than a 31' manuvered back to it. So adjusting the garage size for bigger boat isn't warranted. I have a 24x34 garage attached to the house for my car and girlfriends car when she's over.... I figure, boat, truck and some toys for the new garage. And as for area where it's going... I'm about at the limit without it overwhelming the property.... I'd be going wider, higher and longer if I had the space and a straight shot to get a boat into it. You can never build a garage too big!!!

32 Thunder

I own a 1999, 32 ActiveThunder, I love the boat! I live pretty close to you (Richmond, VA) If you wanted to see the boat or take a ride you won't be disappointed. I also was looking at a 31 Sonic from All-pro PLEASE ,PLEASE if you want any speed thats not the boat, ok rough water, but about 8-10 mph slower than a 32 AT. I boat with 38 Hustler,38 Fountains, 35 Cigarrette and stay right with them when the water gets rough. Also the cabin and cockpit may look the same but there not even close.

Take the time to look at one its a lot of money to buy the wrong
boat.

Thanks Excursion
James Barton

Excursion.... Thanks for the reply regarding your 32... If we find ourselves close to your area... I just might stop for a look....
