AT & AM...In regards to the fumes question, there were none with the epoxy, at least compared to contact cement. Now...if my ears, hair, and nose fall off in the next few years, I'll reconsider my statement :D :p
The epoxy vs. contact cement was answered by the Lonseal factory. The said that it was impervious to water and performed better in temperature extreems. I live in the northeast and the boat gets hot in the summer and darn cold in the winter, this was the better product for my application. Water from swimming, rain, spills would not be a factor with the epoxy. Application is also easier, there is no forgiveness with contact cement, but you could shift the floor around with the epoxy which was important to me since it was a re-fit and the floor around the helm area required some tweaking. As far as removal for a new floor goes, it's probably easier with the contact cement, that epoxy was very hard once it cured. I'm sure it would be a job to get the floor up. The contact cement is no picnic either, some of the plywood floor came up during the removal but I just filled it with high performance marine filler from 3M. |
Raddiction,
Nice boat. I sent you a picture of mine. As Rick said we will have to hook up this summer. Mike |
Indy,
Thanks again for the input. Now I'm waiting on Pat's reply on the hatches. Thanks again, Mike |

Mike,
We buy the hatches from Bomar. Our current part number is N1070-10P-K-WHT for the hatch. Yours was a little different back then I believe but this one is the same size and a little nicer. If you want to get a new trim ring, which I would recommend, it is part number NT2070 WHT. Bomar's number is 603-826-5791. Get a tube of 3M 5200 to set it in. Put a nice bead under the lip of the hatch, drop it in place and snug it down. Don't over tighten it. Let the 5200 do the adhering and sealing. Wipe off what ever oozes out with mineral spirits and let it dry over night. Let me know how that works. Enjoy the weekend. Pat. |
Pat,
Thanks for the info and I will see what I can come up with. Have a good weekend as well. Thanks again, Mike |

Mike,
Lonseal is what we have always used. We switched to the LonWave a coupla years ago. Indy is correct, LonCoin is what you have. There phone number is 310-830-7111. I am not sure is they will sell direct or in smaller quantities but give them a call. Pat. |
