How fast is the 25 ft closed bow ?

I have a 2000 that came with a 502mpi & it would just do 63mph, next year i had it stroked to a 540 & added a 525 tall efi & inc the comp. that motor ran the boat 72mph but the steel heads & high comp blew that motor after 50hrs . not happy i put alluminum heads & inc the cam lift, piston comp & bored it another .30 over, added a big oil cooler & had the thing dynoed & tuned by gary at gt performance ,650hp on 100oct av gas & 700lbs of torqe, at 5400rpms havnt broke it in yet so what do you guys think it will do ?

ToMorrow44 04-10-2012 09:24 AM

I'd say you might see 75-77 with that set up. What drive are you running on it?

bravo with the upgrade xr shafts & gearset , 1.5 & brand new 26 pitch with work done by r&r in henderson. i think they added 1 deg & did something to the trailing edg to give it mor bow lift ?.i know the victory 27 has a hook on the bottom & being a sea doo rxp 80plus mph guy , i have had to remove a hook and put a strait edge to that thing ! hard work that paid off big & my bud with all the $ he never could figure out why my ski was allways 3 to five mph faster with all the same mods. last winter while the new power plant was beng biult i got under the citation & low and behold there was a 1/2 - 3/4 in hook at the last 12-18 in of the back of the boat . belt sander, orbital block sander and finaly hand block & 400 grit , strait as the strait edge now ,just a lil white spraypaint to hide all . bob supulvada from havasu tells me of a citation up eather in oregon or washington with 1k hp, 3 foot trim tabs and a young man with more $ than brains and no fear of death is close to 120mph ! ? if any one knows who this is id love to see some pics & some truth about the real top speed of this citation !

i just got back from a weeks vacation with the wife & 2 kids in laughlin nev , lake mojave , backing in at th ramp i see a brite orange howard bullet 28 ft ! could it be ? i had to go look & talk to the man ! yes it was the wolds fastest single engine v bott boat we hav all seen on utube doing 132mph ! super nice guy 1 cleanest boat & trailer i have ever seen & its an o5 ! he told me he detuned it to run pump gas & it still dose 125mph , then he said he may even take 65k for the whole thing ! wish i had the $ cuz that man did all the work for some lucky guy !

How much did straightening out the bottom of the Citation help you? I am thinking about having the same thing done to my 27. 120mph with 1000hp is hard to believe, with 1000hp I could see 100-105 (maybe)...it would require a lot more to go 120 in a citation. I too would like to see and talk to these guys...

not sure how much the hook removal did ? im now running at 5500 rpm , 79.5 .7 with wife & kid on bthe boat , i ran it up quickly & befor i had a chance to find the sweet spot with the trim i was getting screamed at by the wife ! im sure with just me & less fuel & more time to let it fully accelerate with perfect trim it mite do 82-84mph , by the way this was just 3 days ago at the cali delta , sea level 65 deg & about 4- 6 in chop, imo the most perfect place & cond for v bottoms .

removing the hook on an Advantage boat is single handed the best speed advancement any Advantage boat owner can make. Face it Advantage boats are great and I've had several, but their bottom quality is suspect. Typically most but not all have hook, especially in the rear two steps. Also rakes edges are rounded vs sharp straight edges you see on other high performance hulls. If you straighten and blue print the hull, an Advantage will fly. But typically they need big HP to run real fast.

keiths advantage 04-22-2012 10:14 PM

yep, 26 4 blade , r&r did add i think 1 deg , nice guys asked my power, rpms if it needed more bow lift , bob ,s @ advantage said they put the rams on the wrong way just to get a lil more lift. i put m on the correct way after i got rid of all that xtra glass on the bottom . i fig thats why they needed so much trim ? & i made the end of the boat as sharp as i could ! we used to buy after market ride plates for are watercraf & cutting off the end , knife edge was a must for that xtra top end

ToMorrow44 04-23-2012 10:11 PM

Now the big question is how did the boat handle at that speed? I think mine has several mph left in it if it wouldn't chine walk. Do you notice a difference in handling when the boat has a lot of weight in it vs empty?

keiths advantage 04-24-2012 08:48 PM

it act handles much better ! befor i got rid of that hook i would hav to trim it all the way with the rams on wrong ,giving it a lil more lift than now & it was damm scary at 72mph ! it feels more planted & dosnt have a loose feeling now that full trim is not as fast as 3/4 trim , i start to loose speed when i trim it up to much . it has been a great improvment in every way , idnw advantage & sea doo even do silly tricks like hooking the edge ? i hear that the 04s are the only rxps that had it & that may be true cus its talked about as (the slow hull) that first year of the rxp it went damm close to 70mph stock ! rumor had it there was an agrement not to make a stock ski that would go that fast ? as far as advantage , i hear that they didnt want to have to put xspensive trim tabs on there boats cuz with the hooked ends they didnt porpose ? my boat is less prone to porpose now that im not triming the heck out of it ! if you havent checked your victory or citation yet ? check it , remove it & enjoy the free speed & better handling with out looking back , iv done it , sounds like 575 did it mas well .

CrownHawg 04-25-2012 09:05 AM

I don't think my 03 32 Victory has a hook.

ar300johnson 04-26-2012 06:48 AM

A 4 foot straight edge will tell you for sure in a minute.

keiths advantage 04-26-2012 11:13 AM

ar300 is rite , most of us have white hulls & just looking at mine i didnt see a frkn 3/4in hook ! it wasnt till i put a 4 ft level under mine before new i had a job on my hands . you mite be rite about that 32 victory as that was there off shore race hull & it came with trim tabbs & bob ,s @ advantage told me how it would spank the cigs , scarrabs & fountains back in the day : )

CrownHawg 04-27-2012 09:24 AM

Not sure about spanking anyone, but this hull does like big water! Runs best in 1-2 footer. I do know that with the large forward cockpit, I wouldn't think they would need to add a hook to limit bowrise though. I'll check for sure, and may be surprised to find a hook.

keiths advantage 04-29-2012 09:46 PM

did you look under your boat yet crownhog ? , i got a panflet for the 34 offshore last year from advantage ,i was there to pick up a carpet kit for my citation & bob s, was gana run some #s on trade n my boat in & get n a 34 offshore from a client that wanted to go back dwn to a victory 27. there were three modles in the panflet, the 32 was in it shown with race #s on it & it was catching sum major air ! on that page it claimed that 32 was the winningest class3 or c prodution hull , winning the apba championship in 97 & 98 , so yah it did spank some boats in its day ! how you didnt no that about the boat you own is odd, you should be proud of your victories victories ! : )

CrownHawg 04-29-2012 10:06 PM

No, I haven't gotten a chance to check the boat. I'm away on business and won't be back to the lake for a couple more weeks. I knew all about the 32 being a offshore race hull, and yes it did win quite a bit of races back in the day. Years ago though! Anyway, as soon as I get a chance I will definitely put a level to the hull and check it out.

Good to know. I think that might be next on my list is to get the bottom straightened out. Not sure if it will happen this year or not though.

CrownHawg 05-14-2012 07:26 AM

Checked the hull this weekend and my 32 Victory doesn't have any hook in it. Straight as an arrow!
