Hull Staining

We boat on the Ohio River in Evansville Indiana and it is pretty muddy water. My friends 27 victory is always stained anytime they pull it out of the water. The only way to get the stain off is to wipe it down with hull cleaner. On my baja I just pull it out of the water and the stain wipes right off with a towel. They have tried everything to keep this from happening. Had the whole boat buffed and polished and then applied 5 coats of wax prior to taking it for the first time this year and it still does it.

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

It is just a difference is the types of gelcoat that was used on the boats?

Maybe Snapmorgan can chime in since he boats on the river all the time with his.

Any help is appreciated.

Mine stained badly too. i took it off the trailer, buffed it good and waxed it with turtle wax carnuba, let it set up hard and removed it with a buffer. Lasted a couple years. Boating in the mud sucks.

Forgot to mention that i wet sanded entire hull with 1200 before buffing.

Thanks for you input. I believe I talked to you a couple of years ago when you got your first Advantage. I was the one driving the red and purple checkered flag Victory on Deadmans Island down by Henderson. I heard about your new boat, hope to see it some time this year.

We wipe ours down right after loading on the trailer - but it still stains too. I cut down hull cleaner about 10:1 and spray with a pump sprayer. Then use a brush with a long handle to agitate. Even at 10:1, it doesn't take much brushing - and I don't leave it on long. Can do hull in about 5 minutes.

We're heading out early Friday - probably around 2pm.

I will be on Barkley the first weekend of shutdown, July 14 and 15th so I will have to keep an eye out for ya to see that beast. We will be at a lake house down by the lodge. So how is the 575 compared to the 454 in your old boat?

Hey Easy, I gotta work Saturday now so I wont be out and I have to come in on Sunday for a couple hours. So I might get out Sunday depending on how fast this job gets done.

454 was not enough motor in the 27. I put in a fresh 540 before taking it out to AZ for Desert Storm. The 540 made 567HP and really woke it up. The 540 and the 575 in the new boat run about the same. Love the blower on the 575. They both REALLY like fuel.

We will be there the whole week of shutdown i think. Going to Marathon Florida the following week for lobster season. Should be a blast.
