575 what do you think about my 28MCOB. I am running about 20% slip with a 26B1 and can hear it caviating i think. It just doesn't hook up well. Doesn't respond well to trim, just wants to slip more. I think I am going to try a 5 blade , but don't know what pitch to try. I am just touching the rev limiter right now ith the 26 4 blade. |

That is fast in a 22!!! Great advice adv 575!!! Im sure a lot of us 28 owners were looking for some of that insight! I will get my fat slow hull into the big #, cause i love the way the boat rides/handles.We'll see.$$$$$$$$$

Hey Snap, my 28 only cavitates if I dont trim up after on plane. Although I dont have the hp you do , it seems kind of strange. Once on plane(which is pretty fast with the hp I have) all I have to do is trim up & she grabs a bite. It will be interesting to see what happens on your boat if you do some of the things Adv 575 recomended.

Thanks 575, just sold my shorty lower yesterday. will try the 5 blade and see how it works.

Snap did you put a water pick-up on the transom or are you using your out drive feed? I've seen a lot of people put a pick-up on the transom in front of the path of the prop. This causes turbulence and air as the water hits the prop area. Cavitation results.

Feeding it through drive. It does however have a drive shower pickup installed through the cavitation plate. I have thought about removing it to see if it may be causing a little of it. Also, I am running LH rotation and the shower pickup is on the left (port) side of drive. It was set up at the factory this way, but it seems backwards to me.

Ever try running a RH prop? Drive shower should only stick through just a bit. I was always told to install them on the drive on the up swing of prop. Never had on on the down side. Could be on to something. What's your current X? 28's are typically pretty deep. |
