25 Citation BR - Prop and Drive Help

I have a 2008 25 Citation Bow Rider, 496 MAG HO/Bravo X. Installed CMI E-Tops and a 24p Bravo I prop. BBlades labbed that prop and I have been running 67.5 mph @ 5000 rpm. This weekend I tried a stock 26p Bravo I prop and I ran 66 mph @ 4650 rpm. I'm waiting to hear back from BBlades on what they might be able to do to gain some rpm.

I've read several threads on here about -2 lower units on 27 and 28 Advantages and wondering what that might do for my 25? Thanks.

Been doing some more reading and it sounds like I might be a good candidate for the -2 shorty lower? My boat takes a lot of trim at speed - the sweet spot for the best top end is about 1-2 needle marks above half...

Anyone?

I have a -2" lower for sale cheap if you want to try one.

Its hard to say if the -2 lower would work on your boat. Advantage sets all their boats up with a really low x dimension because its easier to get the boat on plane and pull skiiers etc with smaller power. When mine had 620hp, it really liked the -2 lower and picked up a couple mph. I'm not sure if you would have the same results with the 496 though, at most it would be a couple mph and you would be able to go up a prop size. I can tell you though that you're running the same speed that another 25 open bow with CMI headers is running that I know.

If I had to guess, I'd say that it would work on your boat, but you might only get 1-2mph and a whole lot of cost to switch lowers and buy a new prop. Unless you can find someone to let you borrow a -2 to test.

i wonder what he did to that 24, if your turning a stock 26 to 4650, then in stock form that 24 should turn around 5k, 200 rpm per inch of pitch is good rule of thumb, in theory, labbing that 26 should get you around 4900 and pick up speed across the board
