Re: Shootout
Speed was limited because we could not get a good start. Did a stupid thing and changed prop rotation to inward just before the shootout. Testing in the lake here the boat ran the exact same speed at each rpm tested and there was a less porpus at 70 mph with the tunnel tab fully up. so I went to the shootout that way. With the dead stop start that we had to run at the shotout the props would blow out if I pushed the throttles too quickly. Did not have this problem with outward rotation. therefore had to appply the throttles slowly and consequently used up too much of the one mile course getting the boat on plane and trimed out.was really accelerating going through the radar but too late.
moral of this story dont change anything before the shootout without testig everything. Ps at home now I went back to outward rotation. |

Great running boat! Normally.... the acceleration is awesome. Do you use the tab often? I'm thinking about getting one. John |
Re: Shootout
normally I don't use the tab. On a midly hard run I drive through the slight porpus very easily without it. I usually cruise below 70 or above 80 mph and don't need it. but if for some reason, like saturday on the TPS poker run, when I was driving along with a bunch of other boats for an extended period of time between 70 and 80 I dropped the tab down to eliminate the porpus in this range.

Re: Shootout
Thanks. Mine doesn't porpoise, but the bow rises more than I like while getting on plane. Did Ed build your tab?
