Think im ready for a 31
Sold my 28 skater about 2 months ago, went to a 31 fountain cc. The Fountain sold this morning. Its time to start looking. I know I want another cat for sure. What years are good for the AO's? What should I look for? Anything I should stay away from? I thought about a 32 skater but they are big money, same with the spectres, and Insurance will kill you. Thanks for any tips you can give me!

bought chromecats 31. Now I gotta figure out if im gonna do imco boxes or blowers...
|
Boxes first.
Hey I took that picture. |
Yeah I think boxes would help alot I would go that way first for sure... save the headaches for later...
I hope you didn't just watch it go by..... you got to go ride too didn't you. Don |
I would go with a pair of -2 lowers (bolt them on & go) rather than going with the work/cost involved with boxes, from what I gather you will only see a small gain from ext . boxes (depending where your prop height in now obviously) then put some more smoke under the hood :cool-smiley-027:

she will blast a nice roost:drink:

actually, with the x that is on it now.. he would be better to get a 2" shorty and use a box... I think he might like the stellings so that he can adjust from there up or down 1" to help it out some more... i think if he gets aggressive he can get 2" shorties and use the -1" of a stellings with to get the most mph... might have to use a 5 blade though to make it work... but i think that would be the best starting point...

I was thinking imco boxes 12 back and 3 up with stock lowers for now maybe shorties later if needed

Try here I am learning too

It's a matter of preference...
when you go with the 3" up and 12 " back box, you get to raise your x up and keep using the same drives however, hou have to completely re-rig the engine compartment as the engines have to go up 3"'s and also back some measure of the transom angle. If you use the standard boxes and use shorty drives you just have to lift the engines off the transom assymblies so that you can replace them with the new inner plates and engines stay where they are in the boat. you have to spend money on the shorty drives, but much less labor involved in the boat. bonus to changing drives is you can change gear ratio with an imco lower. bonus to the ao's most boats don't allow enough engine clearance to raise the engine 3" , the AO has plenty of room to come up that much or more(unless you plan on putting blowers back on and no scoops) |
I think I need a Staples Easy Button, and a magic elf to figure this out for me. All I wanna do is 125!
|
well hell 125....
that is easy... Don |
boxes blowers and lowers!
|
then why stop at 125.....
