Where can I find descriptions of what each class is?
|
Gotta love it! Congrats!!
|
Excellent!!!!
|
Whats the story about letting some boats
hit the start line at 90 and others held to 30?? was obama running the show:lolhit: |
I know the specs on the boat have been posted before but how about a quick update on power and setup?
|
I saw it live too on the TV link. What an "AWESOME" run. Damn, one skinny azz MPH from 140.
The 140 club is a pretty elite group of offshore boats. Keep plugging away. |
Congrats Art 150 next year. :coolcowboy:
|
Thanks Guys I appreciate it
two 502 CI big block chevy motors with Dart pro heads 3.3 whipple charger and single1150 CFM dominator carb on each motor. run about 9 lbs boost. each motor makes approximately 800 hp. run 12 inch extension boxes with b max 1,19 outdrives and 33 pitch herring 5 blade props. also run a 2 ft long tunnel tab which I raise up at 110 MPH. boat is laid up light with all baltec bulkheads only plywood used is in transom and engine mount stringers. all boats were supposed to pass the start boat at less then 30 mph or they were supposed to be penalized . 5 mph taken from top end speed if between 30 and 35 and 10 mph if between 35 and 40 mph. above 40 the run was supposed to be disqualified. don't know if they actually enforced it, I hit starting line just at plaining speed someware between 20 and 25. |
Awesome job, I love the tab goes up at 110 !!!:drink:
Thumper |
Are you motors in the stock location? Do you know what yours weighs on or off the trailer?
|
Thats pretty impressive given the hp, any pics of the motors (location)and drives (heights), I know tssteph is wanting to see them also.
I read that the b-max drive usually drops a couple of mph did you do any work, shaping on the lower? |
the motors are approximately 8 inches forward ie I have 8 inch long driveshafts. Dont think that forward is any faster then transom mounted.
Slightly filed or rounded off the leading edge of the b max skeg. the leadind edge was very flat. dont know if it helped but certainly did not hurt. will try to post a picture of the motors in the next couple of days, center of prop shaft is 1.75 inches above bottom of sponson have to use offshore pickup on transom to get enough water pressure to motors |
Very impressive. What rpm's were you running at 139?

also run a 2 ft long tunnel tab which I raise up at 110 MPH. . Pics of the tab would be great. Manufacturer product or custom built? When you say "raise up", do we take that to mean after 110mph you raise and set the tab at 0 degree's (or neutral) to the bottom of the hull? |
Great job Art!
Impressive acceleration and speed. John |

Art, for what reason are your stringers on top of the tunnel moved in a little? Also I love those hatches; tried to lift/remove the standard hatch off by myself and nearly sealed myself in>:drink: Seems like that is a great spot to focus on reducing tonnage. Are the side by side hatches still avail?
|
Congrats!!! A True look at what these hulls are capable of. Thanks for all the info on you awesome rig. I guess its time to turn mine up:eek: What diameter are the wheels and do you by chance know the rake? I am told the rake can aid with bow lift. I too would like to see pics of the tab.
|
Andy turn it up!!!:evilb:
|
ao 31
that is where we have been putting the stringers since 2000. no The molds for the hatches were lost when we moved the molds to california in 2007. we haven't had many requests for the 3100 in the past couple of years so we haven't built replacement hatch molds. |

I tooled an entirely new boat in four months. Depending on style and design, a hatch would take less than two weeks. I have a 1999 3100 I wouldnt mind eliminating about 100 pounds from...(along with all the hassle of cleaning the fabric)
How many of us would really be that interested in doing it? |

the AO opening is 46.75" x 82.5 wide. I don't know about the awsome opening. I think several AO owners and new customers would like the fiberglass hatches. I get a couple of calls per month asking about them,

send me an email and I'll send you my phone number....

On an AO if you swithed to the two piece setup what would happen to the head rests? I would like to eliminate the multiple layered heavy wood hatch on mine.
|
Tssteph you need to save 1500lbs AND add 200hp!
|
I figured you would suggest adding weight and losing HP so would could run together.
Now get your Wall Mart stops out of the way so you can be at the LC poker run on time. |
Nice... I plan on only stopping once to check on you!

TSSTEPH, I immediately thought about the same thing. Answer: Have McLeod design a replacement sub-headrest to mount directly to the top of the new engine hatch.
