Imco Shorty with Extension Box

Fast Cats
I recently purchased the Advantage SC Imco Drive with a two inch Shorty, as well as, an Imco extension box....so....I was curious if you might have any experience with the effiency level this combo on the 2600 NSX? Any feed-back you can give would be very helpful.

Thanks

will pick up at least 5 to 7 mph but prop will slip a little more on takeoff if using hydromotive wont be as bad with bravo 1 boat will require less trim and will have more foreward thrust:D

Hi Cat N

What year is your boat and where is your original x. Typically you want to raise the x by 3/4 inch per six inches of setback and remember that there is also a notched transom which serves as a setback. 2" will probably be pretty close. CatBoy in Indy is currently installing the same set up in his 2600, not sure of the outcome yet. Merlin is pretty right on as far as performance is concerned. Hope that this helps!

My original x is 1 inch below the bottom of the boat. My boat is a 2000 model. Imco also offers a 3 inch shorty if needed.

FASTCATS-what is your reference point that your raising from? ie-3/4" per 6" above the bottom?

Good News!!!!!!

Just an update on how the American Offshore did today with all the modifications discussed in the thread. I turned a 32 lab-finish prop with 1.34 gear ratio 5800 rpms. However I did not have a GPS to confirm miles/per-hour, but based on the prop caluculator it shows to have ran 117 miles/per-hour, which was awesome!!!

imco 2 " shorty

Could anyone tell me if i can run a imco 2" shorty on a stock bravo 1 upper? Thanks

yes you can, may not last long

I ran one for several years with not a single problem. It should be noted that some boats do not like to plane off with the raised X-dim. This can be solved with your prop choice and ultimatly with a extension box.
