2600 Project
Hey guys, finally found a project that I am excited about again. Previous jet/vdrive owner, also had smaller O/B tunnel boats. But I have recently aquired an AO 2600, less motor and drive. Done some research and know the AO/Talon boats are a good tunnel platform, but cant find too much info on how much power you need to make one move. What HP would it take for 90, 100, or 100+? Any info experience is always greatly appreciated!
Also, does anyone know if there are any molds/spares for the rear hatch and becnch seat combo? Hoping I can find either a used one or someone that has molds and can pop me one. I would rather use the tried and true, than try and build one from scratch. |

About 750hp will get you 104. A 1.36 gear and 32 pitch 4 blade.

Thanks for the responses guys. After doing a little more research I concluded that yall are pretty much right on the money. About 650-700hp will get me past the tripple digit mark.
Now I just gotta figure out how to achieve it...:evilb: |

the boats were manufactured in Texas untill 2007 and that is where the Corporate headquarters is. In Jan 2007 we moved the molds to California where we had better access to Gell coat artists. Prior to that we had to fly one in from california and this tied up the molds at a time when we were really turning out boats and the economy was good. That is why most of the older boats were white. Also since 2007 we tooled two brand new deck boats and California is where the mold toolers are located. Yes, the original molds are well and happy in California.
If you can't get sales call technical. I am located in Texas. 281-235-5174 |
Again, great info! Thanks for taking the time to explain the mold history, it makes perfect sense. I will get in contact with you soon to see what it would take to get a hatch made. I have seen a few of the newer deck boats, the look real slick!

I have a 1993 AO 2600 that was built in Grove Okla. Around 750hp at 104. I was told it was some of the first ones there. I have had it about 6 years. great handling for the size.

Correct, our '95 2600 was also built in Grove as was our neighbors 2600 NSX.
