Thanks Scott-
Wish I could do something about the weight of my old cat, but at least the speedmasters allow for large diameter props, which help carry the weight. Currently using 17.5 x 35, 4 blades.

I'm running 5 pounds of boost.

Merlin: 12 pounds? wow! Burn it Down!

my spare engine made 950 hp on the dyno. i think either excessive water pressure or pounding on the rev limiter torched the head gasket and took out the head and piston. engine in already disassembled and at the machine shop. the tune up on that engine was correct at teardown but i think the msd chip was the only thing holding it back. in testing 1st time out it went 121 with 6200 rpm chips 2nd time out it went 126 with 6400 rpm chip the tach only goes to 6000 and its my fault not changing it to a 8000 rpm tach to see how much rpm over 6000 it was turning. the spare eng dynoed to 6800 rpm under power w/no valve float so i guess a 6800 chip is in order so lets se how fast old yellow will go. teague custom marine has supplied me with the fix for excessive water pressure so i will keep you posted the boat so far likes 32 hydo 4 blades lab w/less cup and merc 15 1/2 by 34 4 bld cleavers. i have found that cats want rpm to run mph. they dont like high gear ratios or high pitch turning less rpm. see ya charlie amann ;)
