Want to race ?????

blowncarrera777 07-31-2002 01:00 AM

Thanks dino, I'm excited. hell I could only afford the 502/500 or so for now. Guess i will run the warranty out b4 i put my blower motor in it

ITLLFLI 07-31-2002 09:02 AM

Blown,

Congrats on the new boat! You will really enjoy it! I did the same thing yoou did with power. Started out with a 502/480 for now....but as you can see I am going to have to step up to the blower soon as my Bajahahaha buddys are giving me sh#$! I could talk trash to them but I won't. I'll just prove it on the water!!

Allan.............COME GET SOME!!!!!!!!!!!:D

blowncarrera777 07-31-2002 06:46 PM

Thanks Guys, yea I'm excited to get it and to sell my carrera, to pay for it. The boats name is going to be shameless, so maybe shameless kitty????
No blower yet unless my carrera doesnt sell till after winter, then the blower may get switched. I'm trying not to worry about it yet.
Probably should get a little seat time b4 I throw the big hp at it.
So what speed do you guys think i will get with the 502/500 1.50 gears???

Allan4 08-01-2002 02:00 PM

Ittlfli......:D :D :D

For those of you who don't know, my badgering of Ittlfli is a direct retaliation of about 3 straight years of abuse that I recieved from, well, his entire family!!!!!!! Then I repowered......and a few things changed...HeHeHe..

So.....I need to talk some quick smack before I help him build a blower motor this winter. Then I will be about 20 + mph in the hole.....again

HAHAHAHAAAAA, if I were a cat guy, I'd have an AO for sure, later boys, I need to go take some more Ritalin/Vodka chasers.........Allan4

Mrgoodwrench 08-01-2002 02:08 PM

Hey Blowncarrera, I would prefer 1.36 gears. I think you will have better prop options. I have a 1.36 gears in mine. I am running a EFI 468 procharged with 7 psi. Fully loaded with fuel and passengers I use a 4 blade bravo one prop. When I want more speed I switch to a 28. I think with a stock 502 you will see about 71-73 mph.

blowncarrera777 08-01-2002 04:33 PM

Goodwrench, thanks, I was told that with my power I would probably benefit more with the 1:50 gears in it, and if i went to blower, then the 1:36 would be better at the higher hp, but then I would probably want to upgrade the drive anyways with the extra hp cuzz neither the stock 150 or 136 would probably hold together very long with the added hp. Any thoughts appreciated
before the drive goes on.
I'm coming from an arneson drive, so I'm a little weak in the outdrive expertise dept. All help accepted.

Mrgoodwrench 08-01-2002 06:27 PM

I have a stock bravo one with the exception of a nose cone. I estimate my hp around 575. Mine has held together fine since new in 1998. Its really all how you drive. You have to ease into the throttle getting on plain. I know a guy who had an NSX and blew 3 drives with a stock 502. He would just nail it and the drives did not last.

blowncarrera777 08-01-2002 11:16 PM

That nsx your talking about has to be the one in San Diego. I hope your estimation of 71-73 is low. I ordered a gps speedo so there wont be any cheatin when we test it.

Mrgoodwrench 08-02-2002 12:04 AM

Actually i think its fairly accurate. I am friends with the previous AO dealer in SoCal. I have helped him test many boats with all kinds of power. The boat I was speaking of that blew up several drives I think was sold last year. There is a guy in Havasu with a 2600, stock 502, he runs around 74.

ITLLFLI 08-02-2002 09:40 AM

Blown,

I have a 480 horse (at the crank) 502 in my boat. It runs a solid 75 mph and when conditions are great it reaches almost 80. With some prop tweaking I could probably get it to run a solid 80 but I'm saving the $$ for a blower!:D

blowncarrera777 08-02-2002 08:31 PM

Well I like ittllfli's numbers better LOL. I'm having a gps speedo in it so it should be very close. I'm also having a boost and fp gauge installed for future. Just have to decide on graphics. fli, what gears do you have?

ITLLFLI 08-03-2002 08:29 AM

1.50 gears. i also had those guages pre-installed!!:D :D

blowncarrera777 08-04-2002 06:38 PM

was having a weird noise last time i had my carrera out and I figured I would check it b4 putting it up for sale. Well no compression in #3, took valve cover off, exhaust spring keeper or whatever it is is broke, but it gets worse, the intake pushrod is gone. Guess it fell in motor, guess that was my weird noise. Doesnt sound to good so far does it. guess it wont get sold for a while. This sucks. Just get me my AO Scott, maybe I'll just stick the B/M on it and throw this motor away, piece of sh*&.

FASTERDAMITT 08-04-2002 08:58 PM

Congrats to Blown!
You bought an awsome boat I'm sure. If your ever in Havasu area look me up. I'm always lookin for an A/O to hang with. Too many Elim's and HTM's around. they try to gang up on me.

blowncarrera777 08-04-2002 09:53 PM

We can fix that faster. We may be there oct 12/17 if all works out. A bunch of folks will be at Moabi camping and I may be staying at Havasu. Keep in touch and we can make arrangements to hook up if all works out.

FASTCATS 08-05-2002 09:48 AM

Hi MrGoodwrench,

Our 502/415's run between 77-79 gps and ocassionally see 80-81, the one that UnblownNSX and I rode in the day that he was down here ran 77 -78 in some hot nasty muggy weather. Unblowns boat will run over 81 mph!

Fli

Did you play this weekend?

Unblown

I like those graphics as well ( the ones that you sent me) I also had our graphics make some up for you and we should see them soon. Be sure to look at the lifter and cam as well on #3. Cell phone went into water at Outriggers dock (again, Aimee's pissed, #4 this year!) so catch me at the office this afternoon! I need floaties that will fit a star tac phone!

I also had a set made up for Blueamerican!

We also ran 114 in the 31 that you rode in on sat.

ITLLFLI 08-05-2002 10:33 AM

Fastcats,

I had to buckle down and get some stuff done on my house. So I installed my kitchen cabinets on saturday and then........ at around 7:00 pm jumped in the car with my brother for a 5 hour drive to St. Clair Michigan. We teamed up and took the Timber Wolf Trailer sponsered bat boat racing in the Great Lakes Silver Cup series. It was a freaking blast!!:D My brother throttled, because he had some seat time during the cincy poker run, and I drove. I had a total of about ten minutes in one these boats before so I thought it was going to be an interesting race. Plus the fact that all rookies have to start 100 yds behind. Well....... we ended up winning by a 2 minute plus margin!!!:D :D

FASTCATS 08-05-2002 10:41 AM

GOOD JOB!

Now, you and Dino Dog need to go out and do that in the AO.

Congrats!

blowncarrera777 08-05-2002 03:50 PM

Scott, email me the graphics you got> I talked to aimee on phone this morning , she said they were cool looking. I'm going to try and pull lifter out today and see if i can see the rod. If there is a cam problem, then ',m not using crane again, this would be 2nd one in a year with a problem and I've had others say they had problems with some. Just gets fustrating.
OK, you guys heard him, 81 off the showroom floor, works for me.
Heck that means it should go about 90 on the trailer LOL

FASTCATS 08-05-2002 07:07 PM

It'll go a 100 on the trailer!

I just don't know if the cockpit cover will stay on it! I too have had problems with crane lifters. Good luck to you. I have to get my scanner working before I can email you. Maybe a day or so.

Scott:D

blowncarrera777 08-05-2002 07:58 PM

Thanks Scott. What stage is the boat at????????????/
I'll have to get a faster truck for 100. But 81 will do till the b/m goes on.

blowncarrera777 08-05-2002 07:58 PM

FASTCATS 08-06-2002 09:53 AM

Hey DueClaws,

Thanks for the offer, I just need to make the time and find out why it's not working, It hasn't since the lightning strike that took the phones out!

Rode by your dock the other day to show a new 3100 owner your graphics. They look great!

Good hearing from you!

Scott

Dueclaws 08-06-2002 10:26 AM

blueamerican 08-07-2002 09:11 PM

American Flag

Scott, talked to Kathy yesterday, said the 'vinyl guy" finally showed up. I have good news and bad news, I just sold my boat at 6:15PM today, so I don't need the flag for my 26'AO. Now I will be putting "things together" and hopefully see you at the Miami show to line up a 31.... Talk to you soon.

blowncarrera777 08-09-2002 08:26 PM

FASTCATS 08-22-2002 09:05 AM

Shameless Kitty
Glad that you got the pics, It was actually finished on Monday. I just took them last night after getting back from Kentucky last night.

Merlin
You have a couple of more AO's in your area. I ran the Ohio river on Tuesday afternoon, stock 600's with 32's ran 110 on gaffrig gps. Wants more prop as it was trying to spit the chip out of the box! Sending 34Labs up, that should do the trick! Theres another one that will be up there in about 7 weeks with much more power, I suspect that it will be a near 120's boat. That new set up is the trick, we're seeing about 4-6 more than normal.

Dueclaws 08-22-2002 10:11 AM

Scott-
Inquiring minds want to know:
What is the "new" setup. Drive height? rotation? Weight? CG?
This might benefit some of the older AOs.
TIA
John

merlin540 08-23-2002 04:24 PM

NEW SET UP MOREBOOST. i smoked the star engine tues night testing. my spare bullet is on the dyno now and i am putting it in tonight. SEE YA AT THE DALE HOLLOW SHOOTOUT!!!!;)

FASTCATS 08-27-2002 07:56 AM

Not More Boost!

We changed engine height and position, and brought the "x" down a small touch and it has picked up speed. I think that along with the weight changes made earlier that this is what has made the difference.

I am actually looking at taking the boost down from 6psi down to 5 psi, because of the added speed found. Our last stock 600 ran 110 with 32p and 112 (different days and weather, might have been more on same day) with 34p on the Ohio river.

Merlin

Are you running again? When is the Dale hollow shootout?
