If you measure the bottom running pad width along with tunnel width and total beam at transom on either the Chris or the AO and then compare to the Awesome/Shadow, I can assure you they will not all be the same although they do look the same until you break out the tape measure..... The AO molds came from Chris Craft with outboard deck mold and a hull mold that had the wedge in the rear of the tunnel, the wedge turned out to work well for transom mounted engines with Bravo drives! The only change we made to the Chris was, we cut the liner apart from the OB deck and then removed the OB well via opening it up for IO and made a new mold off of it. Now we make the deck/liner in two parts, the cockpit liner is the old Chris mold and the rest of the deck is the mold we built in 1989 along with the original Chris Craft hull mold used to build AO 3100. We never had any of the dash board or any other small molds that you might see on the Chris Cat's.
There were two sets of Chris molds and back in the early 90s, Harry Wellerman had the other and was building higher end race hulls in South Fla! I think the name was Max Marine and then Puma or something like that.. There was only one set of Shadow molds that I know of and they were in NJ being built in 1989/1991 and I have only seen outboards from them!!
George Linder built the Shadow cat first and then later was contracted to build a performance hull for Murry Chris Craft and he used his same design with some small changes to the running surfaces...
The Chris Cat was always the best running rough water cat built and to this day there is no other cat this size that can run in the rough with it...........

This is off topic, but can you or John recommend anyone in the Clear Lake area to paint a hull: white with clear coat? Most of the hull has epoxy primer, but some new parts (hatches) will need to have primer before painting.

Hey Ed did you ever finish that 38 or what ever the larger boat was. I heard Jonny McAnaw has a new boat and I was wonder if is one of your or the Spectre he has been talking so much about. I talked to Mike McAnaw tonight and he didn't know.

John has been a customer for 15 years now. He was just a little short of the time that Mike has been a Fountain customer, in another month or so it will balance out!! Any how John has had two 3100s!! Mike, well I don't think you could count all the Fountains on one hand not to say how much $$$$$$$ it cost him in the past 15 years!!!
Why would anyone even suggest that John would entertain the thought of owning anything other than a AO!!

Does that mean Johnny has a new AO coming in month or so.I have met you at their old dock, I think I had a red white blue 42 fountain at the time.

Fasteddie, Johnny told that he thought the same guy that did you interior before does some work for MTI. If so could you tell me how to get in touch with him or her, I have some things I would like to get redone

Wild man those fountain dont cost much to run 110+ Its all in the pilot! Anyway the Fountain is for Sale Finally broke over to the CAT! Please let me know if you know anyone looking for a fast 42, Are we going to see you in Miami? We will be there Wens thru Sun

Fasteddie do you ever think you would come back to Grove. Not much left now of the old shop. In the summer my wife and I would always run the Skater over to Juan Montiez for lunch on the other side of Sail Boat Bridge
