1991 Apache 41 Price?

I haven't looked at Apache prices in a few years and was really surprised to see that the least expensive 41 Apache on OSO is $160,000! I remember a few years ago when prices seemed to be closer to $100k. Is there any specific reason why they seem to have appreciated when most other boats have depreciated? That being said can anyone tell me what a great deal would be on a 1991 41 Apache with fresh 650hp motors and #3's is worth? Assume that everything is in good shape and operational. Thanks for the input.

I think the boat you're referring to is for sale without power at that price.

Its hard to say why the asking prices seem to have appreciated but I'd like to know what they actually sell for.....that being said, I've been surprised at the emails and PM's I've received over the last several months asking if I'm interested in selling mine, including some numbers that were also surprising.

There seem to be only a handful of really clean, operational 41's, so for now they seem to be a decent investment.

I think that is the key to the prices. Limited number of good Apaches available and loyal owners and wannabe owners(like me :) .)

Believe me...I'm not investing my 401K in it.... :D

Its just unusual to see prices rise slightly instead of depreciate... I guess that was my point.

Re: 1991 Apache 41 Price?

I guess my real question is this. Let's assume that there is an early '90s 41 Apache, #3's, two solid powerplants (600-700hp), trailer, and the whole setup is decent. Let's say the engines and drives are a "9" mechanically and the rest of the boat is about a 7-8. What's a steal of a price for this setup? Seems like there is nothing priced below $160k. But what are they really selling for? $150k? Let's say this setup could be had for $125k. Would that be a good or great deal? You guys know the Apache market. Your input is all I have to go on.

Jeffery,
Actually, the prices that boats are selling for are all over the board (not OSO). There's a 3-pack full cabin hull and deck out by me on e-bay that the guy wants $50,000.00 for, it's on there for the second time, maybe he'll take less. But, by the time you buy two engines/drives/trannies you'll have over $150,000.00. There was one that went compete for $75,000.00 a few weeks ago, but needs work. You might could get the "EXCITER" boat for $150,000.00 and I here that it is immaculate. I personally wouldn't take a dime less than $330,000.00, but mines got two "brand new" engines, fresh drives and gimbles, not to mention the paint and cockpit and the trailer. You just have to do your homework and know who to ask, and alot of this stuff doesn't get out to the public.

The motors on EXCITER have alot of hours so I think the price is to high because of that reason.

Re: 1991 Apache 41 Price?

Apaches are hard boats to sell, everyone talks about how they want one, yet only a few individuals step up and actually commit to buying one.

We all think our boats are worth more than they really are, what someone claims the boat is worth and what that same individual would offer is usually a big difference.

The number of nice Apaches are going down, if you can find a nice one, or one that can be made nice I would suggest grabbing it if the price is right.

It took me almost three years to find the right one that I felt was worth reconditioning. It took me almost two years to do it and I am glad I did it, it was a lot of fun.

Look at what is out there, if you can swing it spend a little more and you will get a lot more in the long run.

The first time you run one you will experience what an Apache is all about.

Ok. Here is the deal. I am helping a friend sell his 41 Apache. I have it listed in the classifieds section. You may remember this boat from a few years ago. It has been in Arizona for the past two years. It is a solid and clean boat - not a diamond but also no where near needing any major work. The only thing it needs are some cosmetic upgrades in the cockpit area (gauges and vinyl work). The engines are fresh (4hrs). The drives have been serviced. The selling price is $125,000. Based on what I am seeing this seems to be a good deal. Call me if anyone is interested. My number is on the ad.
