41's with Extention Boxes
Does anyone have any experience with "FULL" staggered 41 "six pack" with extention boxes. I know a few that have short staggered boats with them and they love them, but I have a "full" stagger and have not heard any results on the set-up.
Thanks in advanced. Robert |

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
yes it was tried...it shot the boat to the moon....they were taken off right away..but it is funny some of the saber guys swore by them....weights are probably different center..the boat that tried them was 3 man stagger race..black firewater...ask around...I was going to do it....but the apache report was not good...herb stottler told me.

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
The Sabers that have them have a 19.25" or bigger stagger, we have 18", did Fire Water try alot of differnt setups? Spinning in or out? Differnt X dim. ? Thanks for any info, both of us are interested in doing this, Steve.

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Yea, I knew the Mr. Oliver tried them on his 41, but they were not Stelling boxes, they one off customs from Mike Britton at B-Bracket. I don't know if there is any difference though. The people that have put them on their short staggers are real happy with them.
Carl, You never told me the magic set-up that ya'll did to your 41. I'm just trying to get the boat to be a little more efficient at cruise. Currently at 3500 rpms I am running right at 60 mph, but the drives are still tucked "in" and I'm running just a little bit of tab. I am turning the drives "in" to help hold the a$$ end down when it gets a little bumpy. Robert |

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Wicked one said they were the bomb..and he put alot into his set up...also I got the impression that stottler took them off firewater before a whole bunch of experimenting was complete....so I would try it....i was but i scrapped out. :(

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
WickedOne has a full length hull with no notch in the transom, so you can't really compare the two. Thanks for the info though. There are a several of us that has a similar set-up that are comparing notes and trying different combinations. I'll keep you posted on the results. Ya'll have a great weekend :drink:

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Robert,
Jerry's Saber has the notch and extension boxes. You also have to remember that prop technology has changed so much since a lot of people have tried this. I know Jerry now has his boat pretty dialed in. It did not handle well with Jim's 6 blade herrings but handles real good with 4 blade mercs. Dan |
Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Dan,
What center line did Jerry end up running on the new staggered? Thanks Cougarman |
Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
I'm not sure what centers they used

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
I think he was running Merc 5 blades when we did our lunch run, it was running real good, she has so new ones coming.

Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Steve,
Your right they were 5 blades, I mistyped. I know he is eagerly awaiting the new wheels. He said Allez Vite was looking sweet. Dan |
Re: 41's with Extention Boxes
Hi Dan, look forward to seeing you on the water next summer. We will be at one of Rodgers gatherings next year. Them 5 blades Jerry was running were real sharp, we pulled them off when I picked her up to come north for the winter. Take care,Steve.
