28 Apache

have a 1990 28 with bravo drives. will the drives last with a small
weiland supercharger. the motors now are putting out around 450hp.
this winter i can only upgrade the drives to xr or do the blowers.
thanks

Re: 28 Apache

It has alot to do with what shape the drives are in now and how you drive it. If their tired already, they have little chance of living long. If you plan to hammer down out of the hole or jump the boat out of the water at close to or max power, they'll last an afternoon.

Chris is right..

If you are thinking of a blower the Blower shop has some nice stuff.. We have been happy with the ones we have installed on our customers boats.. Btw, where are you located?? I may be able to help you with the parts, install or both.. :) Jamie / Lakeside

Re: 28 Apache

hey warpaint
where do you boat?
my biggest concern is when the boat comes out of the water
and re entry. how fast you running? what kind of props are you running? this boat is new to me and i never ran this heavy of a boat.

That should be your biggest concern. Too quick and too much on the power coming back in and you can grenade those drives. That's way worse than hammering out of the hole. Holeshots apply lots of stress but over-rev on re-entry spins the prop up then instantly places a huge load on it.

Quit talking about how good the boat is, I know and I miss it already! :( I spent alot of time and $$$$ getting it to where it is today. Dave is a good guy and I'm sure he'll take good care of her. We had alot of fun with the Apache but it was time to move on. Also Dave, my vote is for the blowers. :D That was my plan and I would love to know how she runs with them.
